Christine Wilson Girdler, age
94, of Nancy, passed from this life on Thursday, July 28, 2016,
at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center.
Christine was born on October
7, 1921, in Pulaski County, daughter of the late Cleo Melby and
Mattie D. Compton Wilson.
She was a sales associate for United
Department Store in Somerset for over twenty years.
Christine was a member of Chesterview
Baptist Church, and enjoyed attending. She enjoyed family
get-togethers and traveling. Christine loved tending her
vegetable garden and liked when the neighbors’ cats would come
over to visit.
She was “happy-go-lucky” and always had
a smile on her face.
She is survived by her husband,
Arthur Lee Girdler, whom she married in July of 1977; her son,
James Lee (and Delores) Taylor, of Lebanon, Ohio; her step-son,
Gary (and Lucy) Girdler, of Somerset; her step-daughter, Sandy
(and Robert) Miller, of Nancy; her granddaughter, Jennifer (and
Chris) Luckett; step-grandchildren, Sonya (and Kevin) Roark,
Robbie (and Shawn) Miller, Richard (and Debbie) East and Delice
Bales; great-grandchildren, Michael James Taylor, Leah Marie
Luckett, Madeline Mae Luckett and Katelyn June Luckett;
step-great-grandchildren, Tasha (and Daniel) Tucker, Kelsey (and
Levi) Watson, Conor Roark, Christopher East, David Bales and
Lucas Fitzgerald; her niece, Patricia (and Croix) Miller, of
Somerset; and her nephew, Dr. Garry (and Elaine) Wilson, of
Preceding Christine in death
are her parents; her brother, John Orville Wilson; and her
grandson, James Randy Taylor.
Visitation will be Sunday, July
31, 2016, from 2:00 p.m., until 5:00 p.m., in Southern Oaks
Funeral Home Chapel.
A Celebration of Christine’s
Life will be held Monday, August 1, 2016, at 1:00 p.m., in the
funeral home chapel, with Bro. Norman Harper officiating.
Burial will be in White Oak Baptist
Church Cemetery, in Nancy.
In lieu of flowers, donations
may be made to Chesterview Baptist Church.
Christine’s family would like
to give a special “thank you” to the Jean Waddle Hospice Care
Staff for the wonderful care given to Christine.
