Orville Brown, age 75, of the Blue John
community, departed this life on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at the
Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Mr. Brown was born on April 19, 1937 in
Sloans Valley, Kentucky to the late James O. and Sally McKee
Brown. He was a retired dryer operator for Kingsford Charcoal in
Burnside, KY and member of the Dixie Bend Baptist Church.
Mr. Brown was a hard worker and enjoyed doing general repairs for
friends and family. He loved to fish, hunt, and raise a garden. He
was also an avid UK Wildcats fan.
Mr. Brown married his wife, Alma Jo Hall
Brown on March 29, 1959 in Somerset, Kentucky and she survives
him. He was a loving husband and father and active with his
children and grandchildren.
Along with his wife, he is survived by
two sons, Russell (and Leshia) Brown of Parkers Lake, KY and Jeff
(and Kim) Brown of Somerset; three daughters, Sheila VanHook of
Somerset, Cindy (and Bill) Henderson of Eubank, KY, Delores (and
David) Thompson of Sloans Valley, KY; seven grandchildren, Kathy
Crabtree, Brian Branscum, Kendra Brown, Sonja Adams, Jacob Lee,
William Thompson, and Brittney Thompson; eleven great
grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; three brothers, Cressel
(and Eileen) Brown of Sloans Valley, KY, Kenneth (and Linda) Brown
of Sloans Valley, KY, and Doyle Brown of Sloans Valley, KY; and a
sister, Della (and Bill) Lemmon of Sloans Valley, KY.
Along with his parents, he was preceded
in death by his grandson, Wayne Adams and a sister, Margie Dobbs.
Visitation for Mr. Brown will be
Saturday, August 18th
at 6:00 pm at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway
Funeral service will be held on Sunday,
August 19th at 2:00
pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Mike
Hammond officiating. Burial will be in the Sloans Valley Cemetery.
