Roxie Priscilla Meece, age 81,
of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Wednesday,
October 19, 2016, at her home, surrounded by family and friends.
Roxie was born on October 4,
1935, in Stanford, Kentucky, daughter of the late Ernest A. and
Elveree Harris Padgett. She married Corlis “Wesley” Meece
on April 26, 1958, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Roxie was a
retired business owner and homemaker. She was a lady who
loved life, family and making people laugh. Roxie enjoyed
flowers and gardening and canning the rewards. She was a
member of Denham Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by her
daughters, Shirley (and husband, Gary) Davis, of Crittenden,
Kentucky, Linda Garland, of Fairfield, Ohio, Faye (and husband,
Hobert) Herd, of Knoxville, Tennessee; her son, Wesley
Wendell (and wife, Kathy) of Tampa, Florida her sister, Luellen
(and husband, William) Davis, of Cleveland, Tennessee; nine
grandchildren, Greg Davis, Dina Meece, Paulina Meece, April
Collins, Staci Paff, Dustin Davis, Courtney Davis, Chaz Herd and
Trevor Herd; twelve great-grandchildren; two nephews, Jimmy
Davis and family, of Cleveland, Tennessee, and Gerry Davis and
family, of Cumming, Georgia; and extended family and best
friends, Melvin and Virginia Stigall, of Somerset, Kentucky.
Roxie is preceded in death by
her parents; her husband, Wesley; her brothers, Leonard Padgett,
Brook Padgett, Victor Padgett, Richard Padgett and Clarence
“Sandy” Padgett; and her sister, Irene Ollish.
Visitation will be Saturday,
October 22, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., in Southern
Oaks Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held
on Sunday, October 23, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., in the funeral home
chapel, with Bro. David Muse and Bro. Vestal Meece officiating.
Burial will be in the Double Springs Cemetery, in Waynesburg.
Pallbearers will be Greg Davis, Dustin Davis, Chaz Herd, Trevor
Herd, Jake Ritchie and Jeremy Paff. Honorary pallbearers
will be Dina Meece, April Collins, Staci Paff, Courtney Ritchie,
Stephanie Herd and Chelsea Herd.
In lieu of flowers, the family
requests donations made to the D.A.V. or to the Wounded Warriors
Southern Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
