Mr. Clarence L. Brock December 27,1919 - September 27, 2001 Mr. Clarence L. Brock, 81, 110 Summitt Drive Somerset, passed away Thursday September 27, 2001 at his residence. He was born December 27, 1919 son of the late George and Nannie (Weaver) Brock. He was a farmer, retired school bus driver and retired wood worker, W W II Army veteran and a member of Delmar Church of the Nazarene. He dedicated his life to Jesus Christ at age 23 and was a man of strong faith and daily walked with God. Survivors include his wife Dorothy (Daulton) Brock, whom he married on June 7, 1941 in Delmar, Kentucky; three daughters, Carolyn Sue (and Jack) Shelton of Delmar, Connie Brock and Teresa (and Denton "Bo") Davis all of Somerset; one sister Juanita (and Dale) Sharp of Delmar; five grandchildren Mitzi Dawn (and Joey) Quinton, Marla (and Mitch) Loveless, Christi (and Tommy) Holder, Joshua Davis, Kylie (and Alfonso) Martinez; The eldest: Andrew Beasley Quinton and 11 great-grandchildren, little angels who papaw loved and adored; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Sunday September 30, 2001 at the Delmar Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Military honors by American Legion Post #38. Visitation will be Saturday September 29, 2001 from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. Johnnie Elbert Brown April 6, 1916 - September 26, 2001 Johnnie Elbert Brown, 85, Bethelridge Road passed away Wednesday September 26, 2001 at Britthaven Nursing Home. He was born April 6, 1916 son of the late Walter Thomas and Cornelius (Cochran) Brown. He was a farmer and member of the Bethelridge United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters Margaret Ellen Spears of Science Hill, Shirley Mae Holtzclaw of Bethelridge; one step daughter Louella Harriett Richardson of Liberty; two brothers Roscoe Brown of Salvisa, Virgil Brown of London; three sisters Mary F. Randolph of Fairfield, Ohio, Ethel Knight of Salvisa, and Lottie Mae Hall of Liberty; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Lois Layfon (Godbey) Brown who died on October 4, 1995. They were married on April 4, 1946. his parents; step-mother Minnie (Whitis) Brown; two brothers George and Jim Brown; one sister Rose Barber. Funeral services will be Saturday September 29, 2001 at the Bethelridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Janes officiating. Burial will be in the Bethelridge Cemetery. Mr. Samuel "Sam" Davis October 25, 1919 - September 25, 2001 Mr. Samuel "Sam" Davis, 81, P.O. Box 317 Tateville Kentucky passed away Tuesday September 25, 2001 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was born October 25, 1919, a son of the late Robert and Lutie (Cassada) Davis. He was former owner of Sam Davis Grocery Store, member of Mt. Union Baptist Church where he was song leader, men’s bible teacher for 30 years, deacon for 33 years, past board member of America Red Cross, Ky Colonel, current president of Tateville Fire Department, past president & board member of Tateville Water Association & S. Eastern Water Association, member of Burnside Masonic Lodge #634, charter board member of Pulaski Fire Commission, American Legion Post #38 and U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran of W. W. II Survivors include his wife Sue (Jones) Davis whom he married on June 9, 1951 in Wiborg, Kentucky; one son, Mark (Tina) Davis; two daughters, June (Jim) Howard and Donna (Kenneth) Morrow all of Tateville Kentucky; one sister, Catherine Taylor, New Castle, Indiana; 10 grandchildren, Erik, Ben, Joshua, Jessica, Samuel and Kyle Davis, Sheri and Bryan Morrow, Bengie (Diane) Davis, Denise (Scott) Jasper; one great-grandchild, Kaleb Jasper. He was a minister, member of Spirit of Truth Church, past jailer, magistrate, deputy sheriff, pioneer of several churches, entrepreneur of several business, and U.S. Air Force. She was born in Bumcombe, KY, April 21, 1926, daughter of the late Carl Merritt and Martha (McDonald) Merritt. She was owner of Dancy Ceramics in Tateville, a 1944 graduate of Eubank High School and member of Burnside First Baptist Church in Burnside. Survivors include her husband, James Dancy Sr., two sons, Jim (and Carol) Dancy Jr. of Tateville, Bill (and Peggy) Dancy of Science Hill, a brother, Gay (and Jude) Merritt of Somerset, two sisters, Vivian (and Jim) Vaught of Somerset, Charlotte (and Ralph) of Englewood, OH, two grandchildren, Jamie Dancy and Shane Dancy and several nieces and nephews. She was born in Shopville, September 1, 1909, daughter of the late Milford Sears and Celiabelle (Farmer) Sears. She was a homemaker who loved to play the piano and a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church in Somerset. Survivors include a son, Howard Lucian (and Sandy) Jackson, two daughters, Bes (and Howard) Burton, Juanita Young, all of Somerset, a sister, Betty Randall of Lockland, OH, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lucian Jackson, whom she married in 1925 in TN, her parents, a son, Howard William Jackson, four brothers, Lee, Earl, Alton and Vernon Sears, three sisters, Lottie Vaught, Edith Rainey and Dessie Alma Sears. He was born in Bethelridge, KY, son of the late Isiah Dye Clifton Godbey and Ella Catherine (Irvine) Godbey. He was a carpenter, veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII and member of West Science Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Grace (Durham) Godbey, whom he married August 25, 1990 in Indiana, three step sons, Frank Ryan of Science Hill, Patrick Ryan and Dan Ryan both of Cromersville, IN, six daughters, Shirley (and Jim) Shadoan of Beech Grove Community, Helen (and Paul) Warren of Cinn.
