Estel Waddle, 86, Waddle Rice Road passed away Wednesday August 28, 2002 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born April 17, 1916 in Pulaski County Kentucky, a son of the late Will Green Waddle and Bertha (Bishop) Waddle. He was a farmer.

Estel is survived by one son, David Estel (and Betty) Waddle, Science hill, KY.; one daughter, Barbara Macille (and Linton) Hubble, Eubank, KY.; two sisters, Lema Wilson, Greencastle, IN. and Lelia Gooch, Roachdale, IN.; 5 grandchildren, Dana Louise (and Doug) Oak, Bedford, KY., Elizabeth Anne Waddle, Science Hill, KY., Cynthia Barbara Hubble, Waynesburg, KY., Lynn Winona Hubble and Alan Fray Hubble, both of Eubank, KY.; 4 nieces and 2 nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Winona “Gertrude” (Dutton) Waddle whom he married on December 25, 1940 and who passed away August 30, 1967; one brother, Johnny Waddle; one sister, Hazel Tyree and one grandson, David Estel II.

Meacie Estes Farmer, 96, formerly of Springdale, OH. passed away Tuesday August 27, 2002 at Somerset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born January 20, 1906 in Casey County Kentucky the daughter of the late John Estes and Daisy Salyers Estes.

Meacie is survived by two sons, Vernon (and Charlene) Lawhorn and William (and Eva) Lawhorn; one stepson, Levi Farmer; one stepdaughter, Lillian Arnold; four grandchildren, Patty Romine, Bill Lawhorn, Allan Lawhorn and Cathy Renner; several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her parents; her husband, Everett Farmer; three sons, Robert, Joseph and Leon Lawhorn and three stepchildren preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday August 31, 2002 at the Chapel of Hodapp Funeral Home in Cincinnati, OH. Burial will be in Arlington Memorial Gardens in MT. Healthy, OH. Visitation will be Friday August 30, 2002, from 6:00 –8:00 P. M. at Hodapp Funeral Home.

Jewell Dempsey Coleman 79, Georgetown Road Lexington, KY., passed away Monday August 26, 2002 in Lexington, KY.

He was born June 13, 1923 in Goodwin Village Oaks a son of the late Jewell James Coleman and Jennie Lou (Ida) Coleman. He was a T-5 WW II US Army Veteran, a retired laborer and of the Baptist Faith.

Jewell is survived by three sons, Lonnie Coleman, Lexington, KY., Mike Coleman, Reno, NV. and Howard Coleman Sun City, FL.; two daughters, Connie Ratliff and Delora Barnes, both of Lexington, KY.; two brothers, Bill Coleman and Lee Coleman both of California; two sisters, Betty Peterson and Ethel Wilburn both of California; 8 grandchildren, Troy Coleman, Reno, NV., Bonnie Reynolds and Misty Ellis, both of Nicholasville, KY., Stephanie Prather, Glenda Ward, Scott and Christina Coleman, Lexington, KY. and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary Katherine (Bentley) Coleman; one brother, Art Coleman; three sister, Betty Peterson, Ethel Wilburn and Maxine Dennison.

Henry S. Morris, 82 Maple Grove Drive passed away Tuesday August 27, 2002 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born October 5, 1919 in Uriah, Alabama a son of the late John Morris and Betty (Durden) Morris. He was a WWII US Army Veteran, a retired mechanic for Commercial Carriers in Detroit, Michigan, a member of American Legion Post #38, a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans and of the Baptist Faith.

Henry is survived by his wife, Margaret (Bryant) Morris whom he married on December 31, 1964 in Grove Hill, Alabama; three sons, Sam (and Linda) Morris, Burnside, KY., Eddie (and Pam) Morris, Mobile, AL. and Jacob Morris, Somerset, KY.; five daughters, Elaine Russell, Mobile, AL., Sarah Barron, Burnside, KY., Diane (and Ron) Galloway, St. Charles, MO., Jan (and Chris) Jarman, Pensacola, FL and Tammy (and Jerry) Todd, Somerset, KY., 16 grandchildren and  6 great grandchildren.

His parents, one brother, Thomas D. Morris and one sister, Etta Bell, preceded him in death.

Claude Surber, 86, Old Stilesville Road passed away Friday August 23, 2002 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born September 21, 1915 in Bobtown, KY., the son of the late Elmer Surber and Mary (Smiley) Surber. He was a farmer and has been a Christian since 1931, known as a Bible student with no earthly membership.

Claude is survived by two sons, Robert  L. Surber, Cincinnati, OH. and James (and Wilma) Surber, Greenfield, IN.; one brother, Audrey Surber, Indianapolis, IN.; one sister, Mayne Thomas, Indianapolis, IN.; five grandchildren, David Lee, Larry Phillip, Jared, Joel and Jamie; four great grandchildren, Dustin, Nolen, Amanda and Brennen.

She is survived by two sons, Vernon (and Doris) Epperson and James (and Wanda) Epperson, both of Nancy, KY.; two daughters, Marietta (and Wayne) Marcum, and Sharon (and Kelly) Dalton, both of Nancy, KY.; 11 grandchildren, Clifton, Gordon, Doyle, Noel, Michael and Jamey Epperson, Shelly Daulton, Virthel Burton, Elaine Frye, Shannon and Kevin Marcum; 12 great grandchildren, 3 step great grandchildren; several nephews and nieces; a caregiver, Debbie Smith of Nancy, KY.

He was a 1951 graduate of Pulaski County High School, cofounder and former of the Nelson valley Water Association, now Southeastern Water Association for 33 years, a farmer and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Union Baptist Church. She was a lifetime resident of Tateville, where she shared her talents of cooking and flower gardening with her friends and family.

Christine Whitaker, 75, Eubank, KY., passed away Friday August 9, 2002 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born May 5, 1927 in Perry County Kentucky, the daughter of the late Sarah (Salyers) Combs. She was a seamstress and a member of Eubank Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Gary Whitaker, Carlisle, PA.; one brother, Wade Combs, Eubank, KY.; 4 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Thomas R. Whitaker.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P. m. Sunday August 11, 2002 at the Chapel of Morris and Hislope Funeral Home with brother Shelby Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Eubank Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6:00 P. M. Sunday August 10, 2002 at the Chapel of Morris and Hislope Funeral Home.

Margarine (Margie) Bell, 82, Somerset, KY. passed away Saturday August 3, 2002 at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home.

She was born September 7, 1919 in Owensboro, KY. the daughter of the late Basil Bell and Martha (Camp) Bell. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include good friends, Ethel Hopkins, Mike Morgan, Mark Hopkins, James Hopkins, Kathryn West, all of Eubank and Nora Dalton, Germantown, OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Arthur and Woody Camp.

Forrest Junior “Pig” Taylor, 65, Bourbon Road passed away Thursday August 1, 2002 at 1910 WTLO Road, Somerset, KY.

He was born June 9, 1937in Frazer, KY. a son of the late Delbert Taylor and Carrie (Hammonds) Taylor. He was a forklift driver for Tecumseh Products Plant and a member of 1st Church of God Somerset, KY.

He is survived by his former wife, Shirley (Cromer) Taylor; two sons, Brother Harold (and Brenda) Taylor, Amherst, OH. and Leonard (and Arlene) Taylor, Burnside, KY.; two daughters, Lisa (and Luke) Wright, Richmond, KY. and Diane (and David) Hyden, Somerset, KY.; five sisters, Evelene Jeanine (and Billy) Taylor, Somerset, KY., Wanda (and Lloyd) Dykes, Reading, OH., Laura Tucker, Bronston, KY., Anna McKee, Somerset, Ky. and Della (and Bro. Noel) Dodson, Somerset, KY.; one grandchild, Taylor Marie Ping.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Royce and Fred Taylor; two sisters, Ruby and Mildred Taylor.

Gerald Paul Dykes, Jr., 34, Grundy Road passed away Wednesday July 31, 2002 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born August 17, 1967 in Somerset, KY., the son of Gerald P. Dykes, Sr., and Carmon (Kenwick) Vaught. He was a 1985 graduate of Pulaski County High School, owner and an auto repairman at Gerald’s Paint & Body Shop in Somerset, KY. and a member of Rock Lick Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lori Lee (Boling) Dykes whom he married on August 8, 1992 in Somerset, KY., his parents, two daughters, Savannah Jade Dykes and Hunter Elizabeth Kelly Dykes, both of the Grundy Community; one step daughter, Kelsea Saige Dills, Somerset, KY.; one sister, Tammy Pendleton, Lexington, KY.; his grandmothers, Lena Bea Dykes of Grundy and Lucille Mae Weisbrodt of Clifty Rd.; his Step Mother, Shirley Dykes, Grundy Community; his Step Father, David Vaught, Clifty Rd.; one Brother-in-law, Roger (and Suella) Boling, Woodson Bend.

His grandfathers, Earl Dykes and Joe Weisbrodt, preceded him in death.

 Ina H. Mounce, 78, 305 Malvin Hill Road passed away Tuesday July 30, 2002 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY.

She was born August 13, 1923 in White Lily, KY. a daughter of the late Pickney green Hargis and Mary Ann “Molly” (Keeney) Hargis. She was a homemaker, schoolteacher and a member of White Lily Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband Howard C. Mounce whom she married on July 9, 1977 in White Lily; three sons, Ronald (and Teresa) Dykes, Knoxville, TN. Ray Dykes, Somerset, KY. and David (and Sheila) Dykes Somerset, KY.; two daughters, Diana (and Howard) Lewis, Harrogate, TN. and Becky (And Ray) Hines, Science Hill, KY.; four step sons, Carl  Mounce, Piney Grove, Denton Mounce, Somerset, KY., Ronald Whitis, Frankfort, KY. and Roger Whitis, Somerset, KY.; five step daughters, Janice Cottingim, Somerset, KY., Willene Farmer, Nancy, KY., Betty Hargis, Somerset, KY., Janet Brinson, Somerset, KY. and Geraldine Whitaker, Somerset, KY.; one sister, Rosa Baker, Somerset, KY.; one son in law, David Barnett, Somerset, KY.; 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
