Bert E. Rogers, age 79 of
West Somerset, KY departed this life on Monday, February 21, 2011
at his home.
He was born on December 29,
1931 in Nancy, KY, the son of the late John Marion and Beulah
Redmon Rogers. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean
War and farmer. He was a graduate of the Nancy High School
where he was the president of the Senior Class, the past president
and director of Pulaski County Farm Bureau, and past president of
the Burley Advisory Council. Mr. Rogers was a member, Sunday
School teacher, and song leader at the Chesterview Baptist Church
in Nancy, KY.
Mr. Rogers is survived by
two sons, Greg (and Christine) Rogers of Moneta, VA and Doug
Rogers of Somerset, KY; two daughters, Joan (and Bob) Davis of
Somerset, KY and Amy (and Cody) Bill of Ringgold, LA; ten
grandchildren, Dustin, Derek, Keith, and Alaina Rogers, Chad and
Wade Davis, April Vernon, Reagan, Ryleigh, and Grady Bill, and
Jessica Cundiff; eight great grandchildren; a brother, John (and
Debbie) Rogers of Somerset, KY; numerous nieces and nephews; a
son-in-law, Dave Cundiff of Indianapolis, IN; and a special
friend, Lola Hargis of Nancy, KY.
Along with his parents, he
was preceded in death by wife, Shirley Joan Stringer Rogers, whom
he married on November 24, 1953; and a daughter, Judy Cundiff.
Visitation for Mr. Rogers
will be on Thursday, February 24th at 5:00 pm at Lake
Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.
Funeral service will be
held at 12 Noon on Friday, February 25th at the Chapel
of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Clark and Bro.
Norman Harper officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeside
Memorial Gardens.
The family requests
