Brenton
“Brent” Hale, age 72 departed this life on Sunday, February
27, 2011 at his residence.
He
was born on January 5, 1939 in Wolfpen, KY to the late Elam and
Carrie Hall Hale. Mr. Hale was a graduate of the Carr Creek High
School in Knott County, KY, attended Alice Lloyd College and was a
member of the Grace Baptist Church in Science Hill, KY. He retired
from the US Forest Service and the Pine Knot Job Corps Center
after 42 years of service where he was the head of the US Forest
Service Fire Fighting Team for the state of Kentucky along with
other training duties. Mr. Hale was the owner of Brent’s Tree
Service and former owner of Annie’s Antiques & Crafts. He
loved hunting, fishing, farming, horses, playing his guitar,
singing gospel bluegrass music, and people in general. He
was a loving father and grandfather.
Mr.
Hale is survived by his wife, Anna Davidson Hale, whom he married
on November 11, 1959 in Carr Creek, KY; a son, Jeffrey (and
Sheila) Hale of Blacksburg, VA; a daughter, Barbie (and Allan)
Coomer of Somerset, KY; six grandchildren, Brittney Hale, Kenny
Brent Hale, Edward Coomer, Keyla Coomer, Cierra Coomer, and Dylan
Coomer; four brothers, Lemual (and Evelyn) Hale of Tacoma, WA,
Ernie (and Dora) Hale of Elbe, WA, Jack (and Dorothy) Mullins of
Bradenton, FL, and Dennis (and Athelea) Mullins of Fairborn, OH;
and four sisters, Janice (and Eldred) Vance of Pinetop, KY, Dorthy
Keefer of Virginia, Alta (and Charles) Tidwell of Litt Car, KY,
and Lola Elston of Eatonville, WA.
Along
with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and four
brothers.
Visitation
for Mr. Hale will be Thursday, March 3rd at 5:00 pm at
Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.
Funeral
service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 4th
at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Greg
Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Somerset Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bob McGahan, Dave Baugh, Ronnie Vaught, Don
Brown, Wendell Phelps and Marty Hayes. Honorary pallbearers will
be Vertrees Dalton and Don Minton.
The
family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the American
Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, and
Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
