Charlotte Ann “Short” Davis

   May 8, 1942 - July 1, 2011

Charlotte Ann “Short” Davis, age 69 of Ferguson, Kentucky, departed this life on Friday, July 1, 2011 at University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

She was born on May 8, 1942 in Somerset, Kentucky to the late Roscoe and Julia Ann Maiden Hinkle.   Mrs. Davis was a waitress at Jerry’s Restaurant for 28 years. She attended First Baptist Church.  Mrs. Davis enjoyed quilting and embroidery.  She loved her grandkids.

Mrs. Davis is survived by her husband, Donald Davis “Duck”, whom she married on October 8, 1959 in Pulaski County; five sons, Donald “Bubby” H.  Davis, Jr. (and Della Combs, fiancé) of Nancy, KY, Ronald Shane (and Elsie) Davis of Ferguson, KY, Billy Dutch Davis (and Ashley, fiancé) of Burnside, KY, Steven Whitaker of Indianapolis, Indiana and Louis Harris of Burnside, KY; eight daughters, Connie (and David) Sullivan and Brenda Polson both of Ferguson, KY, Kelley (and Donie) Helton of Burnside, KY, Chaskia Burdine of Ferguson, KY, and Lisa Setzer of Arizona, Mary Lou Brake of Frankfort, KY and Melody Harris of Somerset, KY and Tammy Kay Whitaker; twenty-one grandchildren, D. J. and Stephen Helton, Brandon, Dakota, Hayley, Mason, Jerzee, Brooklyn, Terry, Dannelle, Shire, Megan Lee Ann, Dustin Shane and Christopher Scott and Matty Davis, Kayla Bolin, Chad Glover and Nina and Nate Hitchkock and Jasie and Jolee Sanders; a brother, Paul “Dink” Hinkle; and two sisters, Juanite (and Coy) Lovins and Peggy (and Gene) Bottoms. 

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Pat Kelly; six brothers, Charles, Clifford, Volia Tobe, Earl, L.C. (Red) and Lester Hinkle; and five sisters, Virginia Hinkle, Grace Hinkle, Madonna Hinkle, Helen Harris, Doris Adkins. 

Visitation for Charlotte Ann “Short” Davis will be Tuesday, July 5, 2011 after 6:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Brother J. S. New and Brother Clyde Strunk officiating.
