Denton Lee Oakes, 63,
passed away at his home on December 29, 2011.
Denton was born on May 29,
1948, to his mother Novia Muse Oakes and his father, Wilbur Oakes
in their home in the Naomi community. He grew up there with his
siblings; a sister, Velda (and Steve) Barlow and brothers, James
Oakes (and Lisa Norfleet) and Rodney (and Christy) Oakes.
He was the husband of
Patricia Ward Oakes for 32 years and they were blessed with a son,
Denton Lee (and Paulette Barger) Oakes II and a daughter, Emily
Faith (and Brandon) Sizemore. He was also blessed with three
grandchildren, Victoria Cummings, Lillian Cummings, and Clara
Ivy-Lee Oakes; and so many nieces and nephews that he was proud
of; and hundreds of friends.
Denton was a farmer,
district sales manager for the MoorMan’s Livestock Feed Company,
a real estate broker and agency owner of Mill Springs Realty, and
successful business entrepreneur.
He was a loving father and
family man, who was admired by all of his family. But most
importantly, he was a proud Christian and of the Baptist faith. He
had accepted Jesus Christ to be his Lord and Savior.
He enjoyed holiday
gatherings with his family, singing karaoke, spending time with
his grandchildren and children, and loyal dog, Honey. He spent
time in conversation with others uplifting their spirits and
inspiring them to be their best and was known for his outgoing
nature.
He will be forever missed
by his family and friends but reunited with us in Heaven someday.
Visitation for Denton will
