Dixie Myers Davis, 91, died
on January 12, 2011 at Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Davis was born in
McCracken County, Kentucky on August 15, 1919 the daughter of Owen
T. and Bernice Holt Myers. She graduated from Heath High
School in 1937 and received a bachelor of arts from Murray State
Teachers’ College in 1941. On June 26, 1943 she married Allan C.
Davis, who died on July 4, 1985.
Mrs. Davis was a former
teacher for the Pulaski County School system and a beloved wife,
mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the Cundiff
Homemaker’s Club and was awarded a certificate of merit for her
work with the Pulaski County Homemakers in 1977. She was an active
member of the First Baptist Church of Somerset for more than 60
years.
She is survived by two
sons, Robert T. Davis (Joan), Somerset, KY and William H.
Davis (Carol), Lexington, KY; one sister, Martha Kibler,
Metropolis, IL; one brother Dr. Owen T. “Ted” Myers (Barbara),
Plantation, FL; 7 grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Davis,
Millwood, VA, Mark Allan Davis (Holly), Paris, KY, April Vernon
(Trent), High Point, NC, Chad Davis (Summer), Edinburg, VA,
Dr. Wade Davis, Somerset, KY and Anthony Davis and Lee Davis
both of Lexington, KY; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband
and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Allan Myers
Davis; a daughter, Corliss Ann Edwards; a brother, Richard Holt
Myers; and a sister, Rosella M. Crecelius.
A funeral service will be
held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 15th at the
Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Dr. French Harmon
officiating. A private interment will follow.
Friends may call at 6 p.m.
on Friday, January 14th at Lake Cumberland Funeral
Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.
In lieu of flowers the
family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations
to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset,
