Donald D. Dye, age 60 of
Nancy, KY departed this life on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the
Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born on December 30,
1950 in Nancy, KY to Louise Cook Dye Gossett and the late Edwin
Dye. He was a graduate of Nancy High School and Eastern Kentucky
University Police Academy. Donald retired from the Pulaski County
Sheriff’s Office after 24 years of service. He worked under
Gilmore Phelps, Johnny Adams, Sam Catron, Jim McWhorter, and Todd
Wood. He was a faithful member of Saline Baptist Church. He loved
Camp Canaan where he got saved during Family Camp. He loved
working at the camp and helping during the different camps until
health problems prevented him from continuing. He loved his family
and friends and will be missed by all.
Mr. Dye is survived by his
wife, Janet Baugh Dye, whom he married on October 5, 1981 in
Somerset, KY; his mother, Louise Cook Dye Gossett of Nancy, KY; a
son, Shaun Dye of Covington, KY; two stepsons, Chris Combs and
Dale Combs, both of Eubank, KY; two daughters, Shannon (and Matt)
Thomson of Riverview, FL and Renee (and Darrell) Bunch of
Monticello, KY; grandchildren, Amanda, Benjamin, Kayla, Alyssa,
James, Mackenzie, Greg, Shelby, Brandon, Paige, Jacob, C.J.,
Kaitlyn, and Hailey; great grandchildren, Mary Jane, Patrick,
Cristian, Anthony, Alexis, and Rilee Grace; a twin brother, Ronald
(and Sharon) Dye of Nancy, KY; and two sisters, Joann (and Billy)
Logan of Nancy, KY and Janice (and Ron) Terry of Nancy, KY.
He was preceded in death by
his father, Edwin Dye.
Visitation for Mr. Dye will
be Tuesday, March 15th at 5:00 pm at Lake Cumberland
Funeral Home and then after 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 16th
at the Saline Baptist Church, West Highway 80, Somerset.
Funeral service will be
held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 16th at the Saline
Baptist Church with Bro. Noah Broughton and Bro. Melvin Sisson
officiating. Interment will be in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
The Pulaski County Sheriff Department will serve as Mr. Dye’s
pallbearers.
The family requests
