Faye
Bales Girdler, age 75 of the Slate Branch Community, departed this
life on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Lake Cumberland Regional
Hospital.
She
was born on August 22, 1935 in Pulaski County, Kentucky to the
late Glen and Lula Mize Bales. Mrs. Girdler was retired from
G. E. where she was a glass inspector. She was a member of
Slate Branch Baptist Church. Mrs. Girdler loved arts and
crafts at her church with her friends. She also loved to
quilt and loved flowers. She was a devoted wife and a loving
mother and grandmother. Mrs. Girdler had many friends.
Her best friend was her dog, Beau.
Mrs.
Girdler is survived by a son, Charles (and Donna) Girdler of
Somerset, KY; two daughters, Sandy Girdler of Richmond, KY and
Lisa (and George) Onkst of Somerset, KY; four grandchildren,
Justin (and Mandy) Abney, Chance, Chris and Corey Roberts; six
great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne (and Velinda) Isaacs of
Slate Branch and Jerry Isaacs of Nashville, TN; three sisters,
Betty (and Steve) Howard of Somerset, KY, Doris (and Louie) Dills
of Lexington, KY and Carolyn (and Galen) Burton of Slate Branch
Road; and three sister-in-laws, Norma Girdler and Wilma Girdler of
the Slate Branch Community and Jewel Gover of Piqua, Ohio.
Along
with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bob
Girdler, whom she married on September 23, 1952 at the Jack Ridner
home in East Pulaski County and a brother, Bill Bales.
Visitation
for Faye Girdler will be Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 9:00 am at the
Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80,
Somerset, Kentucky with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm
with Brother J. S. New and Brother Bill Dawson officiating.
Burial will be in the Slate Branch Church Cemetery.
The
family request expressions of sympathy be made to the Slate Branch
Cemetery and/or the Building Fund.
