Franklin Buckner "Sonny" Burkett, 65, of Somerset , Kentucky , passed away Monday, August 22, 2011 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital .

He was born in Ingle, Kentucky on August 13, 1946, son of the late Linville and Doris Kissee Burkett.  He was a truck driver and a self employed diesel mechanic.  He was an honorary member of the VFW Post #269 in Shopville.

He is survived by his wife, Myrna Vaught Burkett of Somerset, one son, Franklin Brian & (Amanda) Burkett of Somerset, two brothers, Willis & (Charlotte) Burkett of Science Hill and Phillip Kissee of King George, VA, three sisters, Mereda & (George) Moore and Patricia & (Arthur) Vaught, both of Science Hill and Sheila & (Vernon) Baker of Somerset and four grandchildren, Kayla Darlene Burton, Kayla Marie Russell, Tyler Brian Burkett and Maddix Bryane Burkett.

A graveside service will be held at 4 PM Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Cedar Point Cemetery .

Burial will be in Cedar Point Cemetery .

Visitation will be after 1 PM Thursday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
