Freda Kathleen Silvers, age 92 of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born on November 11, 1918 in Kidder, Kentucky to the late Kater and Mattie Hardwick Whited.  She was the oldest charter member of Southside Church of God of Prophecy and enjoyed working in her church and studying her Bible.  She was a homemaker.  Mrs. Silvers loved her family and friends at Eagles Landing.  She was the last surviving spouse of Lee and Vada Silvers’ ten children.  Mrs. Silvers loved the outdoors.

She is survived by three sons, Roy James Silvers and Stephen Leonard Silvers, both of Somerset, KY and Larry Russell Silvers of Winfield, West Virginia; two daughters, Geraldine S. Phillippi of Somerset, KY and Jeanette (and Bill) Harrison of Somerset, KY; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Edna Spears of Florence, KY. 

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Leonard Silvers, whom she married on January 7, 1936 in Jeffersonville, Indiana; a son, Billy Ray Silvers; two daughters, Virginia Lee Silvers and Geneva Kaye Silvers; three brothers, James, Jackie and George Whited; and a sister, “Corky” White. 

Visitation for Freda Kathleen Silvers will be on Friday, October 28, 2011 after 5:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset, Kentucky. 

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Brother Richard Ramsey and Brother Roger Dykes officiating.  Burial will be in the Silvers Family Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Doug Harrison, Wayne Harrison, Cody Silvers, Jeff Spears, Doug Spears and Brian Wells.
