Ganzie Lee Nicholas Jr., age
62 of Somerset, KY, departed this life on Friday, May 20, 2011 at
the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born on February 22,
1949 in Amherst, OH to Ganzie Lee Nicholas and Anna May Paris
Nicholas. Mr. Nicholas was a construction supervisor for Massman
Construction Company and a member of Pulaski County Mudslinger. He
attended the Tateville Church of God of Prophecy.
Mr. Nicholas was married on
February, 24, 1967 in Jellico, Tennessee to Ruth Ann Strunk
Nicholas, who survives him.
Other survivors include his
parents, Ganzie Lee and Anna May Nicholas of Burnside, KY; a son,
Shannon Lee (and Teresa) Nicholas of Somerset; three
grandchildren, Jordan Shane Nicholas of Somerset, Alyssa Renee
Nicholas of Somerset, and Hunter Ryan Lee Nicholas of Somerset;
six brothers, Ronald Ray “Buddy” Nicholas of Burnside, KY,
Jerry Wayne (and Connie) Nicholas of Burnside, KY, Eddie Dean
Nicholas of Burnside, KY, Michael Dewayne (and Tina) Nicholas of
Burnside, KY, John “Johnny” Albert (and Ursula) Nicholas of
Somerset, and Terry Lynn Nicholas of Richmond, KY; four sisters,
Gloria Ann “Sis” Toney of Burnside, KY, Regina May Langdon of
Somerset, Linda Joyce Sullivan of Burnside, KY, and Sharon (and
Rodney) Daulton of Ferguson, KY; and special friends, Buddy
Langdon, Wayne Strunk, Jim & Ruth Troxtell, Larry & Othel
Turpen, Tommy Brown, Steve Fleming, The Flynn Brothers, and
Lawrence Winburn
He was preceded in death by a
nephew, Randall Toney; father& mother-in-law, Namon &
Edith Strunk; two brothers-in-law, Hershel Toney and Samuel David
Strunk; four sisters-in-law, Brenda Nicholas, Edna Harrison,
Charlotte Strunk, and Betty Sue Dowell; and a special friend,
Russell Thurman.
Visitation for Mr. Nicholas
will be Monday, May 23rd at 5:00 pm at Lake Cumberland
Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.
Funeral service will be
Tuesday, May 24th at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Lake
Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Roger Dykes officiating. Burial
will be in the Gibson Cemetery in Bronston, KY.
Mr. Nicholas’ brothers will serve as his pallbearers.
