Geneva Mae Douglas, age 95
of Somerset, KY, departed this life on July 5, 2011 at Lake
Cumberland Regional Hospital Hospice Suite.
She was born on May 20,
1916 to the late Ralph and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Whitis Bishop.
Mrs. Douglas worked as a head cook in the Pulaski County School
System. She was a member of Eden Baptist Church throughout
her life until 2001, then she switched to Barnesburg Baptist
Church. She loved attending church. She loved
quilting, gardening and most recently, she loved going for rides
and looking at all the cars and people. Mrs. Douglas also
enjoyed looking at the clouds.
Mrs. Douglas is survived by
her daughter and caregiver, Becky (and Dan) Hamlin of Somerset,
KY; five grandchildren, Josh (and Amanda) Burton, Mara Burton,
Nacomia (and Adam) Winkler, Tracy (and Mark) Perry and Danny
Hamlin; 10 great grandchildren, Caleb Burton, Jeremiah Burton,
Amber Perry, Matthew Perry, Brittney Bridgers, Caiti Karter, Wyatt
Karter, Braden Winkler, Destiny Hamlin and Baileigh Hamlin; and
two sisters, Shirley Stewart and Bea Dykes, both of Somerset, KY
and a special friend, Cathy Wesley.
Along with her parents, she
was preceded in death by her husband, Burl Thomas Douglas; a son,
Glenn Thomas Douglas; and two brothers, Kenneth and Norman Bishop.
Visitation for Mrs. Douglas
will be Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 12:00 pm with funeral service to
follow at
2 pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West
Highway 80, Somerset, Kentucky with Brother Harold Harris and
Brother David Green officiating. Burial will be in the Eden
Cemetery.
