Gladys Pauline Gholson, age 80 of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born on May 12, 1931 in Somerset, Kentucky to the late Henry and Lola Wilson Abbott.  She was a homemaker.  She attended Northside Baptist Church in Science Hill, Kentucky.  Mrs. Gholson was a loving mother and grandmother.  She loved spending time with family.  Mrs. Gholson liked crafts.  She loved living life through laughter.

She is survived by a son, Robert Wayne (and Cindy) Gholson of Somerset, KY; a daughter, Karen Sue Gholson (and Richard) Crowe of Somerset, KY; three grandchildren, Holly Crowe (and Eric) Polk, Melissa Crowe (and Chad Abney) and Craig Allen (and Beth) Gholson; five great grandchildren, Hunter Crowe, Natalie, Sarah Kate and Hannah Grace Polk and Skyler Gholson; and many other relatives and friends.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert O. Gholson, whom she married on June 13, 1958 in Eubank, Kentucky; a step-son, Danny Reinmulth; two grandchildren, Joshua Wade Gholson and Eric Wayne Gholson; one great grandchild, Madelyn Grace Crowe; two brothers, Janis Abbott and Ronald Wayne Abbott; and a sister, Phyllis Abbott Isaacs.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 9, 2011 after 5:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Brother Patrick Butcher officiating.  Burial will be in the Science Hill Cemetery.
