Harry B. Bland December 1, 1932 - June 12, 2008
Mr.
Harry B. Bland, age 75 of Ringgold Road, Somerset, passed away on
Thursday, June 12th at his residence with his family by his
side. He was
born on December 1, 1932 in Nancy, KY to the late William Walker and
Julia Burkett Bland. He worked as a diesel mechanic and was
owner/operator of Harry’s Wrecker Service for 26 years.
He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War, serving as
a Corporal. He was a member of the Langdon Street Baptist Church for 51
years, serving as Deacon for 19 years and a Sunday school teacher for
the Pre-Teen Boys and Men’s Class. Surviving
him is his wife, Barbara Rutherford Bland, whom he married on November
22, 1956 in Somerset by Dr. I.K. Cross; two daughters, Karen (and
Darrell) Hart and Lori Barber (and Tim Wesley), both of Somerset; three
grandchildren, Kimberly Hart Molden (and Kenneth Dowden) of Indiana,
Sarah Hunter of Somerset, and Nathan Anderson (and Latasha Wesley) of
Somerset; five great-grandchildren, Austin Molden, Hailey Molden, Braden
Molden, Madison Dowden, and Octavia Anderson; two step grandsons,
Stephen Michael Wesley and Preston Allen Wesley; a sister, Roxie Lyons
of Somerset; a brother, Norman Bland of Nancy, KY; and numerous nieces
and nephews. Along
with his parents, four brothers, Avert, Willie, Delrue and Albert Bland;
two sisters, Versie Watson and Wilmerth Henderson; and an infant great
grandson, Devon Chase Dowden, preceded him in death. Visitation
for Mr. Bland will be Monday, June 16th after 11:00 am at
Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. Funeral
service will be Monday, June 16th at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of
Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. James Floyd officiating. Burial
will follow in the Ringgold Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or Langdon Street Baptist Church Mission Fund.
