Herbert Hoover “Hoo Hoo” Thurman

    November 2, 1928 - August 28, 2011

Herbert Hoover “Hoo Hoo” Thurman, age 82 of Monticello, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born on November 2, 1928 in Hobart, Kentucky to the late John and Maurine Coop Thurman.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He was a member of the Burnside Masonic Lodge #684.  Mr. Thurman attended Liberty Baptist Church and was a member of Grave Hill Baptist Church.  He was a piston machine operator at Tecumseh Products. 

Mr. Thurman is survived by his wife, Sue Mae Tucker Thurman;  two sons, Dwight (and Jo Carol) Thurman of Eubank, KY and Dwaine (and Pam) Thurman of Monticello, KY; a daughter, Sheila (and Lloyd) Sergent of Eubank, KY; two grandchildren, John Thurman and Emma Garrett Sylvester; two great grandchildren, Ethan Sylvester and Alyssa Sylvester. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Cordell Thurman. 

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 30, 2011 after 6:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 W. Hwy. 80, Somerset, Kentucky

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Brother Ulanda Price officiating.  Burial will be in the Bronston Cemetery.
