Herman Mitchell Stogsdill, age 63 of
Somerset, departed this life on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the
Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born on June 25, 1947 in Somerset,
KY to Herman and Edith Pauline Harris Stogsdill. Mr. Stogsdill was
a graduate of the Shopville High School Class of 1965, sanitation
engineer for Feeney’s Salvaging Service in Brownsburg, IN, and a
member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Somerset, KY. Mr.
Stogsdill was an avid fisherman, loved listening to music, and was
the “Front Porch Weatherman” known from WTLO Radio and was an
avid listener.
Mr. Stogsdill is survived by his wife,
Sharon Cook Stogsdill, whom he married on July 29, 1972 in Liston,
IN; his parents, Herman and Edith Pauline Stogsdill of Somerset,
KY; a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Stogsdill, of Somerset, KY; two
brothers, Gary (and Sharon) Stogsdill of Somerset, KY and Jerry
(and Emmie) Stogsdill of Mt. Vernon, KY; five sisters, Connie Sue
(and Terry) Lay of Indiana, Mary Lou (and Clint) Ridener of
Ferguson, KY, Brenda (and Jerry) Miller of Indiana, Sandra
Stogsdill of Somerset, KY, and Judy (and Doug) Ridner of Somerset,
KY; twenty-three nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews;
numerous aunts and uncles; and a sister-in-law, Elaine Stogsdill
of Somerset, KY.
He was preceded in death by a brother,
Charles Stogsdill; a nephew, Clayton Stogsdill; and grandparents,
Victor and Ona Stogsdill and James and Ethel Harris.
Visitation will be Friday, January 21st
at 6:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80,
Somerset.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on
Saturday, January 22nd at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland
Funeral Home with Bro. Gilbert Robinson officiating. Burial will
be in the Pine Thickett Cemetery. Mr. Stogsdill’s nephews will
serve as his pallbearers.
