Merritt “Inman” Jones

    June 26, 1924 - September 29, 2011

Merritt “Inman” Jones, age 87 of Ferguson, KY departed this life on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at the Somerset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on June 26, 1924 in London, KY to the late Jim Alfred and Lina Dotson Jones. Mr. Jones was a graduate of the Hazel Green High School in East Bernstadt, KY, a United States Navy veteran of WWII and a heavy equipment salesman for Whayne Equipment Supply of Corbin, KY.  He was a member of the Somerset Masonic Lodge #111, the Olieka Shriners Temple in Lexington, KY, and the High Street Baptist Church in Somerset.

Mr. Jones married Zetta Wilkerson Jones on March 22, 1947 in London, KY and she survives him.

Along with his wife, he is survived by two sons, Gary Jones and Kyle Jones, both of Somerset; two daughters, Barbara Wilson of Somerset and Glenda (and Darrell) Burton of Somerset; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Wilson of Somerset, Brad (and April) Wilson of Somerset, Stacey Burton of Somerset, Monica (and Clay) Hall of Salem, KY, Eric (and Kelly) Burton of Somerset, MeKyla Jones of Somerset, and Dylan Jones of Pine Knot, KY; thirteen great grandchildren, Jordan Eubanks, Tanner Eubanks, Delaney Eubanks, Ashton Tarter, Adriene Tarter, Kelley Wilson, Charlie Wilson, Savannah Burton, Abigail Hall, Catherine Hall, Elisabeth Hall, Samuel Hall, and Silas Hall; and two “adopted” grandsons, Austin Jones and Aidan Baker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; three brothers, Russell, Randall, and Elmon Jones; and a sister, Lucy Hedrick.

Visitation for Mr. Jones will be held on Friday, September 30th at 6:00 pm at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 1st at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Owen Edwards and Bro. Ed Amudson officiating. Interment for Mr. Jones will be in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
