Irene Turpen Brown, 90, of Nancy , Kentucky , passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital .

Mrs. Brown was born in Nancy , Kentucky on November 10, 1921, daughter of the late Bam and Winnie Simpson Turpen. She was a retired School Teacher and a member of Okalona Missionary Baptist Church in Nancy , Kentucky .

Mrs. Brown had a passion for teaching, she was very proud of her 43 1/2 years of tenure in the Pulaski Co. School system. She will be fondly remembered by her family, former sturdents and collegues.

Mrs. Brown is survived by a niece, Sandra & (Roy) Chapman, two great nephews Jason & (Trista) Chapman and Morgan & (Kelly) Chapman, two great great nephews Luke and James Chapman, and two great great nieces, Hunter Dupre` and Ramey Chapman.

Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Roma Brown, her parents, a sister Maxine Tarter, and a brother Duke Turpen, all of Nancy , Kentucky .

A funeral service will be held at 11AM Wednesday November 23, 2011 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. John Zupancic officiating.

Burial will be in Hudson Cemetery .

A visitation will be after 6 PM Tuesday November 22, 2011 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
