James Vance Dancy Sr.

August 19, 1925 - August 4, 2008

Mr. James Vance Dancy Sr., age 82 of Tateville, KY, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2008 at his residence.

He was born on August 19, 1925 in Benton, KY to the late Winfred Earl and Ethel McWilliams Dancy. He was a retired commercial fisherman, co-owner of Dancy Fish Market and former owner of Dancy Ceramics and Dancy Service Station. Mr. Dancy was a WWII Navy veteran and member of the American Legion Post #38. He was a member of the Burnside First Baptist Church and a faithful member to the Burnside Island ministry. He also enjoyed gardening.

Surviving Mr. Dancy are two sons, James “Jim” V. (and Carol) Dancy Jr. of Tateville, KY and William “Bill” C. (and Peggy) Dancy of Somerset; two brothers, John B. (and Olene) Dancy of Somerset and Earl (and Hazel) Dancy of Cincinnati, OH; three sisters, Betty Woodson of Eubank, KY, Jose (and Blaine) Singleton of Louisville, KY, Mickie (and Jerry) Wilson of Eubank, KY; two grandchildren, Jamie Ray Dancy and Johnathan Shane Dancy; and four brothers-in-laws, James (and Vivian) Vaught of Somerset, Aaron (and Jude) Merritt of Somerset, Ralph Watson of Dayton, OH, and Chalk Lee of Miamisburg, OH.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Inez Merritt Dancy; a sister, Thelma Lee; and a sister-in-law, Charlotte Watson.

Visitation for Mr. Dancy will be Wednesday, August 6th after 6:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be Thursday, August 7th at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Richard Christian officiating. The American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard will conduct military honors. Burial will follow in the Grave Hill Cemetery at Tateville, KY.
