James (J.L.) Hudson, age 60 of Somerset, Kentucky, departed from this life on Monday, September 19, 2011 at his residence.

He was born on October 30, 1950 in Somerset, Kentucky to the late W.D. and Havena Ard Hudson.  He was a past caretaker for Mill Springs Battlefield Museum and Visitors Center and he was a member of the Mill Springs Battlefield Association.   Mr. Hudson was a member of the National Guard of Kentucky.   Mr. Hudson loved history, especially Civil War History and genealogy.  He enjoyed hunting, camping and canoeing.

Mr. Hudson is survived by two sons, Kevin (and Michele) Hudson of Richmond, KY and Keith Hudson of Lexington, KY; two grandchildren, Bethany and Alyssa Hudson; and three sisters, Shirley Hudson of Ft. Thomas, KY, Joyce Combs and Marian Hudson of Somerset, KY. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation for James (J.L.) Hudson will be Friday, September 23, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset, Kentucky with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 23, 2011 with Brother Burney Manning officiating.  Interment will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens. 

The family request expressions of sympathy be made to the Mill Springs Battlefield Association.
