James D. Poynter, age 78, of Somerset, departed this life on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Britthaven of Somerset. He was born on November 29, 1931 in Bobtown, KY to the late Carl and Mimia Stogsdill Poynter. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Mr. Poynter was a self-employed logger and of the Baptist faith. He loved auctions, flea marketing, and work.

Mr. Poynter is survived by his wife, Ruby Burdine Poynter, whom he married on July 7, 1956 in White Lily, KY; a daughter, Debbie (and Paul) Wilson of Somerset, KY; a sister, Noma Swallows of Somerset, KY; three grandchildren, Keith Wilson, Amanda Wilson, and Abby Wilson; and a great grandchild, Caleb Wilson.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a great grandson, Nicholas Wilson.

Visitation for Mr. Poynter will be Wednesday, September 1^st at 6:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.

A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 2^nd at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Kyle Rader officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
