Janice Lee Reese Easterling,
age 78 of Somerset, departed this life on Wednesday, January 19,
2011 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
She was born on September
20, 1932 in Lookout, KY to the late Palmer and Ollie Rose Reese.
Mrs. Easterling was a 1953 graduate of LPN Nursing School, worked
at the Jenkins Hospital and Appalachian Regional Hospital in
Whitesburg, KY during the 1950’s and 1960’s, a former
representative to the State Special Advisory Commission of Senior
Citizens, and retired as the director of the Pulaski County
Alzheimer’s Respite Center in 1999. She was a member of the
Slate Branch Baptist Church for 30 years.
She is survived by her
husband, Celcis A. Easterling, whom she married on September 14,
1968 in Whitesburg, KY; two sons, Richard (and Brenda) Easterling
of Gamaliel, KY and Corbin (and Ann) Easterling of Paris, TN; a
daughter, Mary Elizabeth Easterling of Wilder, KY; eight
grandchildren, Rick, Cyndi, Richard, Christian, Teresa, Rebecca,
Wayne, and Patricia; ten great grandchildren, Katie, Sara,
Meredith, Leann, Josh, David, Joey, Chelsea, Lacey, and Destiny;
two great-great grandchildren; a brother, Lowell Reese of
Frankfort, KY; a sister, Linda Mullins of Danville, VA; and many
nieces, nephews, and friends.
Along with her parents, she
was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Easterling and Gary
Easterling; a brother, Chester Reese; and two sisters, Orphie
Justice and Betty Pennell.
Visitation for Mrs.
Easterling will be Sunday, January 23rd from 2:30 pm-
7:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80,
Somerset.
Funeral service will be
held at 10:00 am on Monday, January 24th at the Chapel
of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Dawson officiating.
Burial will be in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery in
Nicholasville, KY.
The family requests
expressions of sympathy be made to the Pulaski County
