Joe Bill Thompson, age 73, beloved husband of Tina (Hudson) Thompson, departed this life on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Somerwoods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born the son of the late George W. and Lura (Troxtell) Thompson and the son-in-law of the late Herman Hudson and Bernice Hudson Wilson.

 He was the amazing father of Benita (and Donnie) Hatter of Nicholasville, KY, Randy (and Becky) Thompson of Bronston, KY, and David (and Deloris) Thompson of Sloans Valley, KY. He was the loving brother of Bertha Corder, Nancy Flynn, Robert (and Georgia) Thompson, Arnold (and Shirley) Thompson, Bob (and Jean) Thompson, Ronnie Thompson, Roger (and Delana) Thompson, Jean Bullock, Lois (and Tommy) Blankenship, Rita (and Benny) Hewitt, Michael (and Kim) Thompson, and Gary Wayne (and Barbara) Thompson.

He was loved by five grandchildren, Tonya Thompson, Natasha Thompson, Brittney Thompson, William Thompson, and Jordan Jones. He had also four great grandchildren, Nicholas, Aaron, Isiah, and Matthew Thompson. He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, family, friends, and his special “little friends”, Isaac Stacy, Jeremy Strunk, Trevor Richardson, and Andrew Richardson.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant brothers; a sister-in-law, Nancy Thompson; and three brothers-in-law, Bob Corder, Rob Flynn, and Lester Bullock.

Mr. Thompson was a United States Army veteran, retired from Penn Central Railroad, and owned and operated many different businesses in his lifetime. He was a member of the Quinton Baptist Church in Bronston, KY.

Visitation for Mr. Thompson will be Tuesday, January 24^th at 12 noon at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with his funeral service to follow at 3:00 pm. Bro. Jimmie Dishman will officiate. Interment will be at a later date. The American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard will conduct military honors for Mr. Thompson at his funeral.
