John
“Jack” Ford, age 60 of Somerset, KY, departed this life on
Saturday, July 16, 2011 in South Hampton, New York.
He
was born on June 28, 1951 in Norfolk, Virginia to Mary Cunningham
Ford and the late William Louis Ford. Mr. Ford moved here
from Monmouth County, New Jersey twenty years ago. He was a former
CFO of Lifeline Home Health and he worked as a CPA/controller for
Somerset Food Service. He was active in the Boy Scouts of
America and served as a past district chairman for the Boy Scouts
of America. He was also an Eagle Scout. Mr. Ford was a
Rotarian, a member of Knights of Columbus and past President of
the Kiwanis Club. Mr. Ford attended St. Mildred Catholic
Church where he also served as a Sunday School teacher, lector and
treasurer. He loved the outdoors and sailing. He
passed away at sea while sailing off the shore of South Hampton,
New York.
Mr.
Ford is survived by his wife, Diane Smith Ford of Somerset, KY,
whom he married on August 2, 1975 in Holmdel, New Jersey; two
sons, Michael (and Ashley) Ford of Louisville, KY and Patrick Ford
of Somerset, KY; one grandchild, Harper Matilda Ford, born July
12, 2011; his mother, Mary C. Ford of Allentown, PA; his
mother-in-law, Kathleen Smith of Holmdel, N.J.; and two sisters,
Susan Ford of Trenton, N.J. and Kathy Ford of Boston, MA.
Mr.
Ford was preceded in death by his father and his father–in-law,
Andrew Smith.
Visitation
for John “Jack” Ford will be Thursday, July 21, 2011 after
5:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80,
Somerset, Kentucky.
Funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 10:00 am at
St. Mildred Catholic Church, 203 South Central Avenue, Somerset,
Kentucky with Father Mike Ramler officiating.
The
family request expressions of sympathy be made to the Boy Scouts
of America Troop 170 Campership Fund and/or the Rotary Ramp
Project.
