Hayden Bray, 76, Deerfield Lane, passed away Wednesday June 20, 2001 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born August 10, 1924, a son of the late Columbus Bray and Cholston (Haynes) Bray. He was a U S Navy WWII Veteran, a retired truck driver, a member of American Legion Post #38, a member of the Antioch Christian Church and attended Denham Street Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Nina Miller Bray, whom he married February 17, 1947 in Somerset, Kentucky; one daughter, Brenda (and Frankie) Nelson, Somerset, Ky.; three brothers, Harold "Greg" Bray, Somerset, Ky., Columbus "Bud" Bray, and Clarence "Gene" Bray, both of Burnside, Ky.; three sisters, Margaret Dearmon, Somerset, Ky., Anna Jordan, North Carolina and Flora Gibson, Frankfort, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 23, 2001 at the Memory Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Brother J. S. New officiating. Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday June 22, 2001, after 6:00 P.M. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

Burlie E. (Dick) Mullins, 82, Mullins Lane, Eubank, passed away Monday June 18, 2001 at her residence.

She was born November 26, 1918, a daughter of the late Tommy Dick and Delila (Dick) Dick. She was a homemaker and a member of Eubank Church of Christ.

She is survived by four sons, Russel Lee Mullins, Cincinnati, Ohio, Dewayne Mullins, Middleburg, Ky., Roger Dale Mullins, Franklin, Ind., and Douglas Roy Mullins, Eubank, Ky.; three daughters, Fayrene Bastin, Cincinnati, Ohio, Marlene Hamilton, West Chester, Ohio, and Elizabeth Jane Hamilton, Mason, Ohio; 20 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; two sisters, Edra Dick, Indiana and Odra Emerson, Casey County, Ky.; three step sisters, Freda Dick, Science Hill, Ky., Clarice Watson, Ohio and Annie Dick, Somerset, Ky.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Lee Mullins, whom she married on December 28, 1933, and who passed away on September 2, 1995; her parents; her Step Mother, Gertie (Phelps) Dick; one son, Ronnie Gene Mullins; one daughter, Lila Delen Mullins; five brothers Floyd, Johnny C. Beecher, Joe and Dolphus Dick; one sister Beatrice Brown; one step sister, Lois Godby; 1 grandchild and three great grandchildren.

William Harold Waters, 83, passed away Saturday June 16, 2001 at Brithaven of Somerset.

He was born September 2, 1917, a son of the late William Marion Waters and Elizabeth (Warren) Waters. He was a Waiter and Cook in several Hotels, and a member of the Langdon Street Baptist Church. 

He is survived by one daughter, Linda Sue (and Phil) Wright, Kaysville, Utah; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; one brother, James Waters, Somerset, Ky.; two sisters, Elva Gertrude Childers, Somerset, Ky. and Ruby Stringer, Danville, Ky.

He  was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother and three sisters.

Porter Herman Brake Jr.

Porter Herman Brake Jr., 65, Midlane Ave. Somerset, passed away on Saturday June 16, 2001 at his residence.

He was born June 16, 1938, a son of the late Porter Herman Brake Sr. and Elsie (Cole) Brake. He was a Supervisor for East Ky. Power, a member of the Burnside Masonic Lodge #634 F & AM, and a member of the Beacon Hill Baptist Church where he served as an Usher and an assistant Sunday School Teacher.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Geraldean (Rednour) Brake, whom he married on November 12, 1960 in Monticello, Ky.; two sons, Terry brake, Fort Knox, Ky. and Tom Brake, Somerset, Ky.; one daughter Karen (and Tim) Strunk, Vine Grove, Ky.; 5 grandchildren, Joshua, Blaine, Jordan and Nathaniel Brake and Cody Strunk; three brothers, Haskell Brake, Tateville, Ky., Howard and Bobby Brake, both of Monticello, Ky.; two sisters, Margie New, Monticello, Ky., and Ruth Morris, Somerset, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son who died in infancy; three brothers, Elza and Howard Brake and One brother that died in infancy; and five sisters, Dorthy Neal, Veal Upchurch, Alice Abbott and 2 sisters that died infancy; his Mother and Father in law, Lewis and Inna Rednour. 

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday June 19, 2001 at the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home, with Dr. John Mark Toby officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Berdena "Fuzz" (Edens) Smith passed away Friday June 15, 2001 at Fort Logan Hospital, Stanford, Ky.

She was born July 30, 1935 a daughter of the late Luther Edens and Betty (Dye) Edens. She was a Cook at Eubank Elementary School ,Oran's Wagon Wheel Restaurant and a member of Polly Ann Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Fiance and (Dewayne Ballou) Taylor, Eubank; three grandchildren, Anita Carol Dishon, Daniel Allen Keith and Renee Rayshawn Taylor, all of Eubank, Ky.; six brothers, Dennie Edens, Science Hill, Ky., Earl Edens, Elmwood, Ohio, Larry Edens, Science Hill, Ky., Jim Edens, Mt. Zion, Ky., Reece Edens, Bethelridge, Ky., Bob Edens, Clay Co. Ky.; one sister, Inella Dick, Cincinnati, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence "Buddy" Smith, who died on May 21, 1998; her parents; one brother, Willie Edens; two sisters, Adella Godby and Marcella Dick.

Irene May (Janicki) Lee, 64, of Dixon Smith Road, Eubank, Ky., passed away June 13, 2001 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Somerset, Ky.

She was born in Emily City, MI. January 20, 1937, a daughter of Dorothy May (Steckley) Janicki of Hazel Park, MI. and the late Michael Joseph Janicki. She was a homemaker, a member of Watershed Arts Alliance & Storytellers, Somerset and Scribblers, Wayne Co.

Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Ann Lee Brock of Eubank; Cathlene Marie Lee and (Danny Patterson) of Somerset; Selma Juanita Lee of Monticello; two sisters, Rose Marie Janicki Pink of Fowlerville, MI; Shirley Ann Janicki Courtney of Hazel Park, MI; four grandchildren, Juanita Marie May Brock & (Trey Porter Bradley); Michael Paul Lee & (Carolyn Sue Moles); Jennifer Lynn Brock; Christopher McDevin Lee, and 6 great grandchildren, Natasha Marie Bradley; Angela Ann Marie Simpson; Joshua Logan Hamby; Sonya Katelyn Bradley; Courtney Amber Lee and Whitney Michelle Lee. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Lee, Sr.; her father; one son, Paul Lee Jr.; and one grandson, Travis McJames Lee.

Thelma Waddle, 91, Wilson Ridge Road, passed away Tuesday June 12, 2001 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

She was born March 30, 1910, a daughter of the late Virgil Harness and Janie (Carter) Harness. She was a Homemaker and a member of the Carter Ridge Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Louis Waddle, Cincinnati, Ohio; two daughters, Lars Edens, Science Hill, Ky. and Jean Riley, Cincinnati, Ohio; one brother Jim Harness, Mintonville, Ky.; two sisters, Merlie Blevins and Ella Allen both of Somerset, Ky.   

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Waddle; one son, Robert Waddle; four brothers, John, Winfred, Ray and Robert Harness; five sisters, Flora Spears, Gracie Perkins, Lucy Waddle, Betty Harness and Fay Baker; and four grandchildren.

Eugene Lee Tucker, 68, Tucker Road Bronston, passed away Tuesday June 5,  2001 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. 

He was born August 19, 1932, son of the late Mosie Tucker and Millie (Hammond) Tucker. He was a US Army Veteran, a retired logger, member of the Masonic Lodge Burnside #634, Eastern Star laurel Heights #288 Olekia Temple Scottish Rite, Lexington, Ky. and York Rite, Somerset, Ky.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Taylor Tucker, whom he married on November 15, 1952 at Tateville, Ky.; five sons Donald E. (and Laurie) Tucker, Georgetown, Ky., David l. (and Kimberly) tucker, Frankfort, Ky., Charles Ray (and Charlotte) Tucker Mississippi, Larry Ray (and Debbie) Tucker and Jerry Clayton "J.C." (and Della) Tucker, both of Somerset; one daughter, Jenny Lou (and Darrell) Morris, Virginia; four grandchildren, Kyle tucker, Jesse Tucker, Hannah Jo tucker, Erin Wilcoxen; four brothers Arthur, Wendell, Tommy and Charles Glen Tucker, all of Bronston; 6 sisters, Lettie Canada, Somerset, Betty Flynn, Bronston, Ruby Casada, Ohio, Sue Mae Thurman, Frazier, Pauline Flynn, Bronston and Cloa Hardy, Bronston.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Chester and Donald Kay Tucker.

Francis Calhoun Taylor, 83, of East Lakeshore Drive, passed away June 5, 2001 at his residence.

He was born in Bourbon County, KY, December 4, 1917, son of the late Nettie Wasson Taylor and Raymond Taylor. He was a Safety Director for the KY Department of Transportation, had worked for the State Department of Parks for 48 1/2 years, a State Police Officer, WWII Navy Veteran, member of the American Legion #0200, Faternal Order of Police-Lexington, KY Moose Lodge, Shelbyville, KY, a Life member of KY Sheriff's Association. He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Paris, KY and attended St. Patrick's Episcopal Church in Somerset.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Riddell Taylor, whom he married Sept. 1938 in Millersburg, KY, son, Rickman Taylor Sr. of Burnside, daughter, Bonnie Cox Bryant of Bowling Green, four grandchildren, Rickman Taylor Jr., Hugh Thomas Taylor, Gregory Calhoun Taylor, Liza Cox Edmunds, great-grandchild, Grayson Clay Edmunds and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Marcus Alan Walters, 19, of Ard Road, Nancy, KY, passed away June 5, 2001 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born in Somerset, May 18, 1982, son of Rose Cox Walters and Alan Walters. He was a Field Serviceman for Western Pulaski Water District, Volunteer Firefighter for Faubush Tri-County Fire Department, graduate of Saline Christian Academy and member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Nancy.

He is survived by his parents, a sister, Amanda Walters, nephew, Timothy Hatfield, Maternal Grandfather, Rev. Joseph Cox of Faubush, Paternal Grandparents, Ray and Helen Walters of Nancy, several uncles, aunts and cousins.

He was preceded in death by grandmother, Maxine Cox.

John Calvin Marler

John Calvin Marler, 72, of Sunnyside Church Road Somerset, Ky., passed away May 31, 2001 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born in Rockcastle Co., Kentucky March 29, 1929, son of the late Mollie Petrey Marler and John T. Marler.  He worked for Sterns & Foster Co. in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Survivors include one daughter, Fannie Yvonne Marler of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister Juanita Boyer of Missouri; one step-sister Evelyn Poynter of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky; 6 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two step-sisters Edna Poynter and Edith McKinney.

Beulah Davis, 82, of 4370 Keno Rd. in Burnside, passed away May 29, 2001 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.

She was born in Alpine, KY, May 9, 1919, daughter of the late John Peter Farmer and Dahlia (Garrison) Farmer. She worked at Oakwood of Somerset and attended Mt. Union Baptist Church.

Survivors include six sons, Jarvis B. Davis of Cape Coral, Fla., Dwight A. Davis of Branson, Missouri, Charles L. Davis of Los Angeles, CA, Edwin W. Davis of Sterling, VA, Mark B. Davis of Bloomington, IN, John F. Davis of Keno, KY, a daughter, Paula Sweigart of Deltona, FL, a brother, Byron Farmer of Big Sandy, TN, four sisters, Pauline Rauh of Park Hills, KY, Jessamine Clark of Amelia, OH, Iris McAlexander of Conover, OH,  Arlena Fisher of Amelia, OH and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Cloyd Farmer and Alden C. Farmer.

Martha Souders, 77, of London, Ky., passed away May 30, 2001 at Central Baptist Hospital Lexington, Ky.

She was born in Detroit, Michigan., October 8, 1923, daughter of the late Mary (Zanich) Brklacich and Marko Brklacich.  She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ Faith.

Survivors include her husband Edgar Souders Jr, whom she married on January 20, 1964 in Trenton, Michigan; three sons, Francis E. (and Mary) Smith of Monroe, Michigan, Edgar III (and Vivian) Souders of Newport, Michigan, David Souders of London, Kentucky.; four daughters, Alberta (and Bill) Compton of California, Mary Ann Meehan of Eubank, Kentucky, Dianna (and Jerry) Heinzerling of Carleton, Michigan, Terry Lesczynski of Monroe, Michigan; one brother, Edward of Sebwaing, Michigan; two sisters, Catherine Zarka of Carleton, Michigan, Danica Garich of Carleton, Michigan; 15 grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Mark Berkly and George B.

Evelyn Calhoun, 79, of Patterson Branch Road in Somerset, passed away May 28, 2001 at Britthaven of Somerset.

She was born in Indiana, September 4, 1921, daughter of the late Hallie G. Burton Calhoun and Jeremiah Calhoun. She was a homemaker and member of Southside Church of God of Prophecy in Somerset.

Survivors include her son, Mavis "Jack" N. (Sue) Calhoun, brother, Arthur Calhoun both of Somerset, two sisters, Maxine Autterson of Cinn., OH, Lenora B. Nelson of Somerset, three grandchildren, Angeliea Nicole Letourneau, Chauncy Noel, Nathan Lester Calhoun, three great-grandchildren, Whitney Deshea Letourneau, Dakota Ryan and Justice Aaron.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Guy and Lawrence Calhoun.

Willie Ray Wilson, 85, of Norwood Road Somerset, Ky., passed away at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Somerset, Ky.

He was born in Russell Co. Ky., March 6, 1916, son of the late Mary Ellen (Pryor) Wilson and Henry Filmore Wilson.  He was a truck driver for the City Lumber Company, Somerset, Ky. and a member of the Somerset Church of the Nazarene Somerset, Ky.

Survivors include two sons, James Leon husband of (Dorothy) Wilson and Charles R. husband of (Barbara) Wilson both of Somerset, Ky.; 9 grandchildren: Connie, James, Etta, Jeff, Becky, Cindy, Samantha, Michael II, Scott and 14 great- grandchildren: Shane, Keisha, Caleb, Keegan, Josh, Darren, Dallas, Zachary, Austin, Halie Maggie, Faye Nathan and Cody.

He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Bell (Hall) Wilson who died on March 17, 1998;  his parents; a son Lynn Ray Wilson; two brothers, Hubert and Herbert Wilson; two sisters, Beulah Chipman and Neita Leigh; two grandchildren, Ronnie and Donnie.
