Kathy M. Lane, age 58 of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born on February 9, 1953 in in Nancy, Kentucky to the late Brent and Vera Bray Redmond.  Mrs. Lane was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church #2.  She was a member of Somerset Order of Eastern Star #23. Mrs. Lane retired from Dr. Betts’ office and continued as a caregiver with Hospice for many people, as well as on her own.  She loved to read and loved flower gardening.  Mrs. Lane was a loving wife, mother, foster parent, grandmother and friend. 

She is survived by her husband, Michael Lane, whom she married on August 9, 1985 in Somerset, KY; two daughters, Kim (and Chris) Gross of Science Hill, KY and Keisha (and Michael) Compton of Edmonton, KY; eight grandchildren, Caleb, Joshua and Brayden Gross, Zachary and Dylan West, MaKenzie, Kyle and Justin Compton; and one brother, Michael B. (and Peggy) Redmond of Nancy, KY. 

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Redmond. 

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 13, 2011 after 6:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset, KY. 

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Brother Joseph Warren and Brother Tony Hall officiating.  Burial will be in the Lane Family Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky.
