Lawrence A. Davis, age 87
of Nancy, KY, departed this life on Friday, January 21, 2011 at
the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born on December 27,
1923 in Blacksburg, VA to the late Charles and Ethel Cook Davis.
He was a United States Navy veteran of WWII, farmer and a member
of the Morrow’s Chapel Church in Jabez, KY.
Mr. Davis is survived by
his wife of 68 years, Maxine Morrow Davis, whom he married on
January 7, 1943 in New Castle, IN; a daughter, Norma Abner of
Nancy, KY; a son, Greg (and Gayle) Davis of Nancy, KY;
grandchildren, Jennifer Keith, Julie Decker, William Bill Davis,
Chris Davis, Sherry Clapp, Gary Davis, Randy Davis, Brandon Davis,
Brian Abner, Tabatha Morgan, and Toby Stevenson; eighteen great
grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; three brothers, Harman
Davis of Florida, Dale Davis of Indiana, and Clifford (and
Shirley) Davis of Indiana; and two sisters, Geraldine Perkins of
Indiana and Arlene Merchant of Indiana and Marie Gadberry of
Indiana.
Along with his parents, he
was preceded in death by his two sons, Roy Davis and Joseph
“Joey” Davis; a grandson, Brad Abner; three brothers, Andy
Davis, Chick Davis, and Emitt Davis; and three sisters, Mary Lou
McDonald, Bert Sharp, and Lorene Edwards.
Visitation for Mr. Davis
will be Tuesday, January 25th at 12 Noon at the Chapel
of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with his funeral service to follow
at 2:30 pm. Dr. Greg Ryan officiating. Burial will be in
Morrow’s Chapel Cemetery in Jabez, KY. The American Legion Post
#38 Honor Guard will conduct full military honors for Mr. Davis.
