Lee Carson Merrit

September 14, 1928 - May 12, 2008

Mr. Lee Carson Merritt, age 79, of Somerset, departed this life on Monday, May 12, 2008 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born on September 14, 1928 in Poplarville, KY to the late Olvin and Mary Riley Merritt. He was a retired car salesman and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed flea markets, auctions and loved his grandchildren.

Mr. Merritt is survived by his wife of 26 years, Ruth Ellen Russell Merritt, whom he married on December 11, 1981 in Somerset; a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Tom Stone of Corbin, KY; a son, Terry Wayne Merritt of Corbin, KY; a daughter-in-law, Vickie Merritt of Somerset; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Dawna Keeney West; four grandchildren, Amy Merritt of Somerset, Adam J. (and Melissa) Stone of Alexandria, VA, Kimberly Anne (and Darrin) Hensley of Lexington, KY, and Kyle Edward West; three brothers, Ray (and Vivian) Merritt and Cecil (and Ruby) Merritt, both of Poplarville community, and JD Merritt of Somerset; four nieces; six nephews; and along with lots of wonderful friends and family.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Olvin and Marry Riley Merritt; a son, Jerry Lee Merritt; and a sister, Fay Thompson; and five infant children.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Marvin Rose and Bro. Wayne Rose officiating.

Burial will follow in the Merritt Family Cemetery, Poplarville, KY.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 14, 2008 after 6:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
