Leo Gaines, age 89 of
Somerset, KY departed this life on Monday, February 21, 2011 at
the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born on January 2,
1922 in Nancy, KY, the son of the late Jim and Leann Bland Gaines.
He was a retired school bus driver for Pulaski County School
System and of the Baptist faith. Mr. Gaines enjoyed spending time
with his family and working on small engines. He formerly raced
stock cars.
Surviving him are his two
sons, James Gaines and Dewayne Gaines, both of Nancy, KY; three
daughters, Doris Burton of Somerset, KY, Linda (& Jimmie)
Morrow of Burnside, KY, and Wilmouth (& Bro. Rondal) Bray of
Richmond, KY; seven grandchildren, Shawn (& Vicki) Franklin,
Rodney (& Courtney) Burton, Jessica Darnell, Delcena Grimes,
Jennifer Gaines, Cody Gaines, and Wilma Hislope; and seventeen
great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he
was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Gaines; three infant
sons; an infant daughter; three brothers, Woodrow, Delno, and
Garvel Gaines; and a son-in-law, Ronald Burton.
Visitation for Mr. Gaines
will Thursday, February 24th at 5:00 pm at Lake
Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.
Funeral service will be
held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 25th at the Chapel
of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Wilson officiating.
Burial will be in the Norfleet Cemetery in Nancy, KY.
