Leona Martin, age 84 of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born on October 18, 1926 in Wayne County, Kentucky to the late Claude and Lizzie Carrender Decker.  Mrs. Martin was a retired cook at Landmark Inn.  She was of the Baptist faith. 

She is survived by three sons, Wayne (and Judy) Martin, Sam (and Melinda) Martin and Russell (and Monievia) Martin, all of Somerset, KY; three daughters, Nancy (and Donnie) McClendon, Connie (and Jimmy) Burton and Cynthia (and Barry) New, all of Somerset, KY; fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Along with her spouse, Estil F. Martin, whom she married on June 20, 1942 in Wayne County, Kentucky and her parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Jean Martin Sellers; an infant son, Roger Dale Martin; an infant grandson, Steve Wayne Martin; and two brothers, Claude Decker Jr. and Earnest Decker. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2011 after 6:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset, Kentucky. 

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Brother Jeff Phillips officiating.  Burial will be in Alexander Chapel Cemetery.
