Luda A. “Myrtle” Black,
age 76 of Bronston, KY departed this life on Monday, March 14,
2011 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
She was born on June 15,
1934 in Frazer, KY to the late J.D. and Dora Gholdson Morrow. Mrs.
Black was a retired resident assistant at the Communities of
Oakwood and a member of the Bronston Baptist Church. She enjoyed
cooking for her family and friends and was very active in keeping
church members informed of church activities.
Mrs. Black is survived by a
son, Michael (and Shelva) Black of Bronston, KY; a daughter,
Brenda (and Rick) Barrett of Somerset, KY; a granddaughter, Amy
Michelle Maine; three great grandchildren, Dade Simms, Aiden
Simms, and Allyson Maine; several nieces and nephews; and a
special son-in-law, Michael Dalton.
Along with her parents, she
was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Black, whom she
married on September 3, 1955 in Monticello, KY; seven brothers,
Warner, Raymond, Hayden, Lee, Joe, Phillip, and James Morrow; and
four sisters, Rachel Jones, Hattie Jewel, Clara Morrow, and Nellie
Leveridge.
Visitation for Mrs. Black
will be Wednesday, March 16th at 5:00 pm at Lake
Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.
Funeral service will be
held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 17th at the Chapel
of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Harlan Avera Jr.
officiating. Burial will be in the Bronston Cemetery.
The family requests
expressions of sympathy be made to the Bronston Baptist Church
Building Fund.
