Maldon Pierce “Pete” Spaw, age 84 of Somerset, KY, passed away on Wednesday, April 06, 2011 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born on May 5, 1926 in Somerset, KY to the late Hollis and Myrtie Thompson Spaw.  Mr. Spaw was a United States Navy veteran, which he was very proud of serving his country.  He had strong family values, loved fishing and vintage cars. 

Mr. Spaw is survived by two sons, Joe (and Rose Mary) Spaw of Pennsylvania and Craig Spaw of Somerset, KY; two daughters, Sheila Spaw of Somerset, KY and Sandra (and Chester) Bronson of Fort Pierce, FL; three brothers, Jackie (and Kaye) Spaw of Somerset, KY, Cleo Spaw of Mintonville, KY and Eddie Joe (and Donna) Spaw of Cincinnati, OH; five sisters, Priscilla (and Tom) Teagarden of Lawrenceburg, KY, Freida Gibson of Cincinnati, OH, Jean (and Don) Cox of Cincinnati, OH, Linda (and Bob) Williams of Naples, FL, Artie (and Bose) Bradley of Indiana; and five grandchildren. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Spaw; a daughter, Teresa Lynn Spaw; and a brother-in-law Eddie Gibson.   

Visitation for Mr. Spaw will be on Friday, April 8, 2011 after 5:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Brother Richard Owens officiating. Burial will be in the Carter Ridge Cemetery.  The American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard will conduct full military honors for Mr. Spaw.
