Ester Haste, 86, of Tudy Ridge Rd., Science Hill, passed away March 30, 2001 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born in Pulaski County, KY, August 13, 1914, son of the late George Cyrus Haste and Cyndia Rella (Smith) Haste. He was a farmer and a member of King Bee Baptist Church in Science Hill, KY.

Survivors include a special nephew, Harold (Roberta) Haste of Eubank and several other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Roseada (Dick) Haste, a son in infancy, five brothers, Orville, Aaron, Harvey, Clifford and Estil Haste, two sisters, Martha Haste Easterly and Colletta Haste West.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2001 at Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill with the Bro. Dormas Baker officiating. Frank V. Dungan

Frank V. Dungan, 85, of Old Salts Rd. in Somerset, passed away March 30, 2001 at 2062 Old Salts Rd., Somerset.

He was born in Ludlow, KY, September 11, 1915, son of the late Aldolphus Dungan and Dora (Vanhook) Dungan. He was a Civil Engineer at Fort Belvior, NA, Sgt. in the US Army during WW II, member of CCC, VFW, American Legion Post #38, Science Hill High School 1932 and a member of the Science Hill United Methodist Church in Science Hill.

Survivors include, four sons, John F. (Terry) Dungan of Indianapolis, IN, Jeffrey M. (Ann) Dungan of Hedgeville, WVA, Jerry L. (Peggy) Dungan of Winchester, VA, Joseph R. (Patty) Dungan of Somerset, daughter, Georgie L. (Chris) Gray of Woodbridge, VA, three sisters, Frances Eicher of Miami FL, Helen Phillips of Indianola, MS, Doris Green of Somerset and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Marjorie Lee (Hay) Dungan, Gladys May (Ransom) Dungan, a brother Jim Dungan and a sister, Katherine Dungan.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill, with the Bro. Walter Phillips officiating. Opal A. (Todd) Yeary

Opal A. (Todd) Yeary, 84, passed away March 28, 2001 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.

She was born in Waynesburg, KY, November 16, 1916, daughter of the late Johnie Todd and Stella (Measle) Todd. She was a homemaker, retired Rose's employee and member of Estesburg Church of Christ in Eubank.

Survivors include her husband, Coyt C. Yeary, whom she married Dec. 19, 1936, son, Bill Gene (Alma) Yeary of Lexington, daughter, Sylvia Ann (Donnie) Zellar of Mellott, IN, seven grandchildren, Jeff Yeary, Greg Yeary, Reynea Johnson, Debbie Booe, Michael Zellar, Sabrina Yeary, Eric Secen and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by, son James Randall "Jim" Yeary, brother, Noel L. Todd and two sisters, Debbie Sanders and Iva Walls.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2001 at Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill, with the Bro. Gilbert Robinson officiating. Tamie Lyne Burke

Tamie Lyne Burke, 39, of E. Mt. Vernon Street passed away March 26, 2001 at her residence.

She was born in Salinas, CA, April 9, 1961, daughter of Dana Glazner Burke and James Burke. She was a member of Denham Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include her mother, three sons, Shawn (Melissa) Burke, Shane Burke, Shaylon Burke all of Somerset, two brothers, Allen Burke of London, KY, Rich Burke of Orville, CA, a sister, Polly Burke of London, KY and aunt Particia Miller of Somerset.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Junior G. Dagley

June 22, 1927 - Mar. 24, 2001

Junior G. Dagley, 73, of Somerset passed away March 24, 2001, at the UK Medical Center.

He was born in the Naomi Community, June 22, 1927, son of the late Pearl Marcum Dagley and George Dagley. He was a retired truck driver, farmer, veteran of the US Army WW II, received Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal Japan, lifetime member of the D.V.A., and had served as trustee for the Piney Grove Baptist Church #2 Nancy.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews and ex-wife Jean Weddle Dagley of Somerset.

Funeral services 1:00 p.m. Tuesday March 27, 2001 at Memory Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with the Brother Roy Allen officiating. Carl Phelps

Carl Phelps, 72, of Sunrise Manor Nursing Home formerly of Somerset passed away March 21, 2001 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born in Arrowsmith, Ill., Jan. 31, 1029, son of the late Marty Ellen McKinney Phelps and Wallace Phelps. He was a retired salesman for Holt's Hardware and Building Supplies and of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include his ex-wife, Lucille Phelps, son, Carl E. (Gaytha) Phelps, daughter, Kimberly Ann (Dusty) Walker, brother, James W. (Rutha) Phelps all of Somerset, sister Eveline Childers of Bloomington, ILL, three grandchildren, Jill Philps, Ashley Walker, Adam Lee Phelps and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by, his parents, two sisters, Ruth Prather and Louada Sutton, two brothers, Donald Bea Phelps and Ronald D. Phelps.

Philip Dodson, 53, of Lane Town Road passed away March 20, 2001 at UK Medical Center, Lex., KY.

He was born in Couch Co. Missouri, Jan. 26, 1948, son of the late Lewis Dodson and Lillian Ferguson Dodson. He was a Selector for Crane Plumbing Plant, a veteran of the US Air Force, Military Police and a member of the Okalona Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Burton Dodson, daughter, Emily (Peter) Langdon of Nancy, four brothers, Rev. Noel (Della) Dodson, Albert Dodson, Clarence Dodson, Eldon Dodson all of Somerset, four sisters, Ruth (Voyd) Stogsdill of Missouri, Kathern Dodson of Somerset, Jeanie Dodson of Victorville, Cal., Velma (Donnie) Mincey of Somerset, grandchild, Morgan McKenzie Langdon, sister-in-law, Janice Dodson and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Paul Dodson.

Roberta A. Wilson

Roberta A. Wilson, 69, of West Limestone St., Somerset, passed away March 20, 2001 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born in Pulaski Co., August 14, 1931, daughter of the late Pearly Lyons and Charlie Lyons. She was a homemaker and member of Duke Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Emery Jackson (Darlene) Wilson, James Paul (Teresa) Wilson, four daughters, Patricia (Darrell) Gilpin, Margaret Dykes, Kathy Wilson, Glenda Wilson all of Somerset, a brother, Robert Lyons of California, three sisters, Thelma Eastman, Ida Burdine, Mary George all of Somerset, two grandchildren, Jonathan Wilson, Mindy Dykes, two step-grandchildren, John Miller and Harry Miller.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Doc" Wilson, whom she married Aug. 30, 1949 in Somerset, her parents, a grandchild, Kasey Dawn Withers, a sister, Lucy Dugger and a brother, Delmar Lyons.

Kathy Sue Mincey Keller

Kathy Sue Mincey Keller, 45, Danville formerly of Somerset, passed away March 19, 2001 at Vermillion Manor Nursing Home, Danville, Illinois.

She was born in Somerset, December 28, 1955, the daughter of the late Marie Mincey and Brent Mincey. 

Survivors include her husband, Steven Earl Keller, whom she married Oct. 25, 1997 in Georgetown, Ill., two sons Brent Lee and Tony Buckellow both of Danville, a step-son, Matthew Scott Keller of Westville, Ill., a step-daughter, Lisa Jean Keller of Ridge Farm, Ill., four brothers, Brent (Mae) Mincey Jr. of Tateville, William James Mincey, Leroy Mincey, Richard Lee Mincey all of Georgetown, Ill., three sisters, Barbara (Lonnie) Willoughby of Portage, IN, Juanita (Terry) Frizzell of Hobart, IN, Ruby (Joe) Harris of Los Fresnos, TX and one grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, James and Eva Mincey, a son, Donald Ray Buckellow and a nephew, Kyle Weatherford.

Wiley Jerome Tarter Sr.

Wiley Jerome Tarter Sr., 62, of Tarter Cemetery Road passed away March 16, 2001 at his residence.

He was the son of the late Bessie Halcomb Tarter and Jerome Tarter. He was a laborer for Kron International Trucks, US Navy Veteran, served on the USS Forrestal, Sunday School Superintendent and trustee on Church Board for many years and member of the Naomi Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include his wife, Clarene A. Daulton Tarter, whom he married Oct. 6, 1960 in Somerset, son, Wiley Jerome Tarter Jr. (Pam), two daughters, Norma Jean Tarter, Jacqueline R. Durham (Michael) all of Nancy, five sisters, Pauline Chadwell, Kathern Bradley (Herb) both of Cinn. OH, Edna Burton, Mina Marcum (Milford) both of Nancy, Melva June Dick of Somerset, twelve grandchildren, Whitney J. Smith, Brooke, Holly and Jarred Poltson, Mason Daulton Durham, Blake and Andrew Durham, Quinton Litton, Jeremiah, Justin and Star Litton, Charity Riggs and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Roscoe, Everett and Dennis Tarter, two sisters, Irene Young and Hazel Bogle.

He was born in Somerset, Oct. 2, 1977, son of Phillip L. Gastineau, Sr. and Janet F. (Woodall) Gastineau. He was a Residential Training Aid, Oakwood in Somerset and First Source, Residential Training Aid.

Survivors include his parents, two sons, Bishop Ray Gastineau of Monticello, Keaghan Michael Gastineau of Jabez, KY, a brother, Philip (Crystal) Gastineau, Jr. of Eubank, a sister, Billie Jo (brad) Baker of Somerset, grandmother, Vernell Gastineau of Eubank, niece, Tiffani Gastineau of Eubank, nephew, Austin Tyler Baker of Somerset and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold Jefferson Gastineau, John Mae and Bertie Woodall.

Carolyn (Bryant) Gibson, 55, of Auburn Ave., Somerset, passed away March 9, 2001 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.

She was born in Science Hill, KY, November 23, 1945, daughter of the Vernon H. Bryant and Florieta "Fleet" (Council) Bryant. She was a Bank Teller at Union Planters Bank, Tradewind, Somerset and a member of the Southside Church of Christ Somerset.

Survivors include her husband, Jessie Gibson, whom she married June 5, 1962, a son, James Benny (Angela) Gibson of Somerset, a sister Mary Lee )John Ray) Jones, aunt, Geneva Bryant Haynes both of Science Hill, two grandchildren, Jimmy Gibson and Amanda Gibson both of Somerset.

She was preceded in death by two grandchildren.

Opal Atwood, Somerset formerly of Liberty, KY passed away in Somerset. She was the daughter of the late Elizie Ellen Brown and Rosevelt Brown, a retired L.P.N. Nurse and member of the Calvary Separate Baptist Church in Nancy, KY.
