Marion Loveless, age 84 of
Westland, Michigan, formerly of the Hopeful community, departed
this life on Friday, June 17, 2011 at the VA Medical Center in Ann
Arbor, Michigan.
He was born on December 20,
1926 at Cain’s Store in Pulaski County, KY to the late Ottis and
Nina Dye Loveless. Mr. Loveless was a machinist for Star Tool
& Die and a United States Army veteran of WII & Korea.
Marion was one of the first combat boots on the ground in Korea
where he saw extensive combat action. He received many
battle stars and metals including the Bronze Star with Valor and a
Purple Heart. He was very patriotic and with dignity carried
many battle scars the rest of his life. In spite of this, he
had a very productive life. He was much loved and respected
by his family and friends.
Mr. Loveless is survived by
his wife, Gesila Herstter Loveless; a son, Larry Ray Loveless of
Westland, MI; nine brothers, Dane (and Alene), Marvin (and
Geraldine), Howard, James (and Dean), Curtis (and Chris), Leon
(and Linda), Louie, Gale (and Bessie) and Dub (and Carole)
Loveless; and two sisters, June Tarter and Carrie Marnhout.
He was preceded in death by
his parents and three brothers, Arthur, Weldon, and Doyle
Loveless; four sisters-in-law, Erdean, Mary, Pat and Doris; two
brothers-in-law, Oren and Bill; and a cousin, who was considered
in the family like a brother, Wendell Dye.
Visitation for Mr. Loveless
will be Tuesday, June 21st at 6:00 pm at Lake
Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.
Funeral service will be
held on Wednesday, June 22nd at 11:00 am at the Chapel
of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Chaplain Clarence Floyd and
Brother Joe Warren officiating. Burial will be in the Hopeful
Cemetery in Nancy, Ky. The American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard
will conduct full military honors for Mr. Loveless.
The
family request expressions of sympathy be made to the Hopeful
Cemetery fund.
