Mary Ann Hyden, age 59 of the
Mt. Victory community, departed this life on Saturday, May 21,
2011 at her home.
She
was born on March 22, 1952 in Somerset, KY
to the late H.E. “Edd” Gallagher and Maggie Abbott Gallagher.
Mary Ann worked for many years at the local hospital in the
Administration Department, before transferring to a position
in Florida. She was very active in many organizations including
local PTAs and served as Co-Chairperson of the
Republican Party. Mary Ann was devoted to her husband, children,
and grandchildren. She loved spending time with all of
them. Her greatest devotion was to Jesus Christ. Her
faith was very important to her and it was obvious to all who knew
her that she was a Christian. She was an active member of
the 1st Baptist Church of Mt. Victory for 40 years, where she
had served as Youth Leader and Secretary. Seven years ago,
Mary Ann was diagnosed with cancer. Many would say that she
fought a brave battle. However, she accepted the devastating
disease, coping with it day to day. She kept a positive
attitude, staying active until weeks ago. She was an inspiration
to all who knew her.
She
married her husband, Jerry Hyden on December 9, 1969 in
Byrdstown, Tennessee and he survives her. Mrs. Hyden is also
survived by two sons, Kenny (and Jennifer) Hyden of Eubank, KY and
Anthony (and Angela) Hyden of Mt. Victory, KY; six grandchildren,
Niki Hyden, Kraig Price, Kendra Hyden, Brett Hyden, Austin Hyden,
and Alyssa Hyden; a brother, John (and Debbie) Gallagher of
Burnside, KY; four sisters, Frances Ferguson of Somerset, Edwena
Dyer of Somerset, Betty Gallagher of Somerset, and Margaret (and
Lonnie) King of Ferguson, KY; and special friends, Oreida Harris,
Louise Bales, Jeanne Kovacs, and Jonell Wiles.
Mrs. Hyden was preceded in
death by her parents.
Visitation for Mrs. Hyden will
be Monday, May 23rd at 5:00 pm at Lake Cumberland
Funeral Home and then at 12 Noon on Tuesday, May 24th
at the Mt. Victory 1st Baptist Church until time for
her service.
Funeral service will be at
1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 24th at the Mt. Victory 1st
Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Gallagher officiating. Burial will
be in the Mt. Victory Baptist Church Cemetery.
