    March 22, 1952 - May 21, 2011

Mary Ann Hyden, age 59 of the Mt. Victory community, departed this life on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at her home.

She was born on March 22, 1952 in Somerset, KY to the late H.E. “Edd” Gallagher and Maggie Abbott Gallagher. Mary Ann worked for many years at the local hospital in the Administration Department, before transferring to a position in Florida.  She was very active in many organizations including local PTAs and served as Co-Chairperson of the Republican Party.  Mary Ann was devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren.  She loved spending time with all of them.  Her greatest devotion was to Jesus Christ.  Her faith was very important to her and it was obvious to all who knew her that she was a Christian.  She was an active member of the 1st Baptist Church of Mt. Victory for 40 years, where she had served as Youth Leader and Secretary. Seven years ago, Mary Ann was diagnosed with cancer.  Many would say that she fought a brave battle.  However, she accepted the devastating disease, coping with it day to day.  She kept a positive attitude, staying active until weeks ago. She was an inspiration to all  who knew her.

She married her husband, Jerry Hyden on December 9, 1969 in Byrdstown, Tennessee and he survives her. Mrs. Hyden is also survived by two sons, Kenny (and Jennifer) Hyden of Eubank, KY and Anthony (and Angela) Hyden of Mt. Victory, KY; six grandchildren, Niki Hyden, Kraig Price, Kendra Hyden, Brett Hyden, Austin Hyden, and Alyssa Hyden; a brother, John (and Debbie) Gallagher of Burnside, KY; four sisters, Frances Ferguson of Somerset, Edwena Dyer of Somerset, Betty Gallagher of Somerset, and Margaret (and Lonnie) King of Ferguson, KY; and special friends, Oreida Harris, Louise Bales, Jeanne Kovacs, and Jonell Wiles.
