Clinton O. Mullins, 82, Wheeldon Road passed away Tuesday May 28, 2002 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born February 9, 1920 in Virginia, a son of the late Bennett Mullins and Lula (Dunsmore) Mullins. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a farmer and of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include tow sons; Gordon Wayne Mullins, Louisiana and Richard Calvin Mullins, Bethelridge, KY., three daughters; Ellendell Rae Harbor, Louisiana, Barbara Diane Adington, Waynesburg, KY. and Sheila Yvonne Meece, Somerset, KY., one sister; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son; Larry Clinton Mullins, four brothers; Haroll, Paul, Lowell and James Hansford Mullins, one sister; Genevieve Mullins and one grandchild.

William M. Chaney Sr., 79, died Monday, May 27, 2002, at Manor Care Health Services. He was a resident of Indianapolis.

He was born July 22, 1922, in Somerset, Kentucky. His parents were William A. and Eva M. (Calhoun) Chaney. He married Mae Marie (Smith) Chaney on December 1, 1945 in Meece, Kentucky. She preceded him death on June 13, 1998. Survivors include a friend and companion, Ruth Adams; a son, William Marshal Chaney II of Greenwood; two daughters, Berneta Warner and Janet S. Warner both of Greenwood; two brothers, Eugene Chaney of Indianapolis and Rev. Gordon R. Chaney of King’s Mountain; five sisters, Edna Burch Johnson of Spencer, IN; Pauline Dodd of Corbin, KY; Christine Hail of Somerset, KY; Josephine Preston of Kentucky and Shirley Muse of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Amos Chaney Jr.; and a sister, Beverly Joyce Chaney.

He was employed for 10 years by Metro Bus Company as a Driver, having retired in 1984; previous employment: Associate Transport as a driver for 15 years; General Outdoor Advertising Company as a bill poster for 9 years;

He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church; 1st Marine Division (Life Member); 37th Division Veterans Association (Life Member); American Division Veterans Association (Life Member); Beech Grove American Legion Post No. 276 (Life Member); Voiture Locale No. 145 40 & 8; Guadalcanal Campaign Veterans (Life Member); U. S. Army Noncommissioned Officer Association (Life Member); Dr. Worthington Chapter No. 3 Disabled American Veterans; Beech Grove V. F. W. Post No. 1899 (Life Member); Citizens Flag Alliance: National Rifle Association; Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels; Murat Shrine National Association Legions of Honor (Life Member); Irvington-Lawrence Chapter No. 158 York rite of Indiana; Former President and treasurer of AFL-CIO Local #7.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in WWII - U. S. Infantry U.S. Army South Pacific Theater under Admiral Nimitz.

There will be a visitation Thursday 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Morris and Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill, Kentucky. Rev. Gordon R. Chaney; Rev. Jason Warner; Dr. Michael Hail and Dr. J. E. Elizabeth "Midge" Noe, 70, Mt. Victory passed away Friday May 3, 2002 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born March 20, 1932 in McCreary County, a daughter of the late Jim Matt Ridner and Zella (Goodin) Ridner of Somerset, KY. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Victory Baptist Church.

She is survived by her mother, one son; Ishmael (and Doris) Helton, Mt. Victory, two daughters; Betty (and Chip) Williams, Williston, FL. and Carol (and Barry) Phelps Mt. Victory, two sisters; Emmie Smith and Margie (and Abie) Taylor both of Mt. Victory, 9 grand children, 4 great grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, her husband; Ed Noe whom she married in February 1950 at Pulaski County, Kentucky, one son; Joe Edd Noe, two daughters; Brenda Garret and Jeannie Dalton, three half sisters; Grace Bumgardner, Ollie O’Toole and Lula Sloan, two half brothers; Henry and Loyd Ridner.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Sunday May 5, 2002 at the Memory Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with brother Claude Mincey and Brother Noel Dodson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Victory Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6:00 P. M. Saturday May 4, 2002 at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

Mr. Claydean Sherman, 78, Colonial Ave. passed away Wednesday May 1, 2002 at his residence.

He was born January 22, 1924 in Millcroft, PA. a son of the late Harry Sherman and Margaret (Lowe) Sherman. He was a U. S. Navy WW II Veteran, coal miner for Appalachian Power from 1968 until 1974 and a member of Parkers Mill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife; Joyce (Terry) Sherman whom he married on October 11, 1958 in London, KY., one son; Frank Sewell (and Gloria) Sherman, Sumpter, SC., one daughter; Barbie (and Chris) Campbell, Somerset, KY., one brother; Tom Sherman, Sisseton, SD. and one grandchild; Christopher G. Campbell.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Elma Lee (Garner) Coner, 87, W. Hwy. 80 passed away Thursday May 2, 2002 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born September 13, 1914 in Nancy, KY., a daughter of the late C. P. Pratt Garner and Sarah (Weddle) Garner. She was a loving mother and devoted Christian, She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Chesterview Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons; John D. (and Eleanor) Coner, Linville D. (and Betty) Coner, Ronald Lee (and Debby) Coner, Robert W. (and Sue) Coner and David B. (and Judy) Coner, all of Franklin, IN., three daughters; Joyce (and Jim) Thompson, Trafalgar, IN., Norma (and Roy) Frye and Janice (and Paul) Dye, both of Nancy, KY., 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; John Coner whom she married in November 1935 in Nancy, KY. and who passed away August 9, 1981, four brothers; Tom, Chester, Minnie and Galen Garner, one sister; Thelma Turpin and one grandchild.

Juanita (Brock) Sharp, 78, Delmer Community passed away Tuesday April 30, 2002 at U K Medical Center.

She was born September 6, 1923 in the Delmer Community, the daughter of the late George Lewis Brock and Nannie (Weaver) Brock. She was a seamstress at Palm Beach Clothing factory for 40 years, where she was the first employee, and a homemaker. She was a graduate from Nancy High School in 1941. She was a dedicated Christian, who received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age. She was also a dedicated and faithful member of Delmer Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by her husband; Dale Sharp, whom she married on July 1, 1961 in Jamestown, KY., one step daughter; Donna Sharp, Somerset, Ky., two step-grandchildren; Marie Smith of Nancy, KY. and Mark Dale (and Missy) Smith of Nancy, Ky., a step-great grandchild; Tyler Dale Smith, three nieces; Sue (and Jack) Shelton, Connie Brock and Teresa Brock, three step sisters-in-law; Kathleen (and Leon) Ring, Nashville, TN., Deanna Sharp, Nancy, KY. Dorothy Brock, Somerset, KY., several great nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her 1st husband; Larkin Burton, one brother; Clarence Brock.

Mrs. Gertie Hargis, 95, Hwy 1003 passed away Sunday April 28, 2002 at Somerset Nursing & Rehabilitation.

She was born August 8, 1906 in McCreary County, a daughter of the late H. J. Ridner and Frankie (Taylor) Ridner. She was a homemaker, Clerk for New Hope Baptist Church where she has been a member since July 1962 until present.

She is survived by five sons; Clemon (and Joyce) Hargis, Carlos (and Christeen) Hargis, Dewey (and Violet) Hargis, all of Somerset, Ky., Albert Hargis, Brownsburg, IN. and Willard Hargis, Knoxville, TN., one daughter; Ruby (and Roscoe) Bullock, Somerset, KY. two brothers; Lee Buck Ridner, Brownsburg, KY. and Bob Ridner, Somerset, KY., one sister; Linda Adkins, Somerset, KY., 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Lewis Hargis, whom she married on December 16, 1924 in Bent Community, one son; James Hargis, a grandson Carlos B Hargis Jr., two brothers; Talmage and Genius Ridner, two infant brothers; Wesley and Wagner Ridner and one sister; Mary Ellen Phelps.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P. M. Wednesday May 1, 2002 at the Memory Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral home with Brother Dale Adkins and Brother Raymond Hail officiating.
