Paul G. Rogers, age 85 of
Somerset, KY departed this life on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at his
residence.
He was born on March 7,
1926 in the Cherry Grove community of Pulaski County to the late
Howell and Nannie Farmer Rogers. He was a United States Army
veteran of WWII and worked in the warehouse and as a driver for
the H.T. Hackney Company. Mr. Rogers was a member of the Buck
Creek Baptist Church, where he was the former Adult Sunday School
teacher and had previously served for 16 years as Sunday School
superintendent. He loved and enjoyed his church and church family.
Mr. Rogers enjoyed fishing and ball games, especially U.K.
Basketball and the Cincinnati Reds Baseball.
Mr. Rogers is survived by
his wife, Yvonne Edwards Rogers, whom he married on March 20, 1948
in Somerset, KY; two sons, Glen (and Johnie) Rogers of Somerset,
KY and Larry (and Trish) Rogers of Somerset, KY; a daughter, Karen
(and Jim) Davis of Ferguson, KY; six grandchildren, Eddie Russell
(and LaDawn, Patti (and Allen) Hash, Rhonda (and Nick) Cantrell,
Brian (and Shirley) Rogers, Phillip (and Erica) Rogers, and James
(and Sarah) Rogers; and eight great grandchildren, Celina, Britney,
Bionica, Kealan, Kylie, Jami, Lance, and Zac.
Along with his parents, he
was preceded in death by a brother, Delton; two twin brothers who
died in infancy, Perill and Merrill; and three sisters, Edith
Rogers Hail, Della Rogers Hail, and Audrey Rogers Moore.
Visitation for Mr. Rogers
will be Monday, March 14th at 10:00 am at the Chapel of
Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with his funeral to follow at 1:00
pm. Bro. Kevin Bullock and Bro. Ernest Warren will officiate.
Burial will be in the Wesley’s Chapel Cemetery.
The family requests
expressions of sympathy be made to the Buck Creek Baptist Church
Building Fund.
