Richard Lee McGowan, age 65 of Somerset, Kentucky departed this life on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born on September 6, 1946 in Jabez, Kentucky to the late Earnest and Rittie Bolin McGowan.  He was a sawmill worker for Petree’s Pallet Company.  Mr. McGowan loved to fish.  He enjoyed his CB radio and his handle was “Blue Ribbon”. 

He is survived by a son, Allan McGowan of Somerset, KY; a step-son, Joe Mofield of Somerset, KY; a daughter, Susan McGowan of Somerset, KY; a step-daughter, Deana Woodworth of Hazard, KY; four step-grandchildren; four brothers, Arlo and Johnny McGowan, both of Faubush, KY, and Leon (and Kathy) McGowan of Faubush, KY and Everett “Dukie” (and Sharon) McGowan of Somerset, KY; a sister, Darlene Long of Somerset, KY; and aunts and uncles, several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mitchell McGowan and an infant sister.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 8, 2011 after 10:00 am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset, Kentucky with funeral service to follow at 12:00 noon.  Brother Dallas Burton will officiate.  Interment will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
