Robert W. Gossett, age 76
of Somerset, KY departed this life on Tuesday, March 1, 2011.
He was born on March 30,
1934 in Somerset, KY to the late Dennis H. and Thelma Brown
Gossett. He was a graduate and valedictorian of the Pulaski County
High School Class of 1952, a former employee of the Somerset
Housing Authority and of the Baptist faith. Mr. Gossett was a
United States Army veteran, serving as a medical records
specialist from 1957-1959 and with the Somerset National Guard 149th
Infantry during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the
American Legion Post #38 and served on the executive board.
Mr. Gossett is survived by
his previous wife, longtime friend and companion, Phyllis Price of
Somerset, KY; three sons, Anthony (and Velda) Gossett of Somerset,
KY, Gordon (and Tessa) Gossett of the Slate Branch community, and
William “Robbie” (and Danel) Gossett of Science Hill, KY; a
daughter, Cindy (and Roger) Colyer of Somerset, KY; five
grandchildren, Natasha (and Joe) Willett, Robert Dennis Gossett,
Alison Willett, Grace Gossett, and Brian Gossett; three great
grandchildren, Brooklyn Gibson, Savannah Gibson, and Sierra Skye
Gossett; a brother, Richard (and Kim) Gossett of Science Hill, KY;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he
was preceded in death by his two sisters, Ruby Price and Fern
Cromer.
Visitation for Mr. Gossett
will Thursday, March 3rd at 6:00 pm at Lake Cumberland
Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.
Funeral service will be
held at 11:30 am on Friday, March 4th at the
Remembrance Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Randy
Wiles and Bro. J.S. New officiating. Burial will be in the Mill
Springs National Cemetery. The American Legion Post #38 Honor
Guard will conduct full military honors for Mr. Gossett.
The family requests
expressions of be made to the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard
and/or Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
