Roberta Lipscomb

    April 8, 1959 - January 6, 2012

Roberta Lipscomb, age 52 of Somerset, departed this life on Friday, January 6, 2012 at the University Of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY.

She was born on April 8, 1959 in Greensburg, KY to the late Broddous and Emma Jones Johnson. Mrs. Lipscomb had worked as a cottage aide at Oakwood and as a C.N. A. at Britthaven of Somerset. She loved church, fishing, and her nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lipscomb was a member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Somerset.

She was blessed with three daughters, Rolisa Jones, Uriah Newell, and Melissa Jones, all of Somerset; six grandchildren, Mikayla Newell, Solomon Currens, Archie Currens, Bella Currens, Zasha Jones, and Alliyah Jones; two brothers, Frank (and Phyllis) Newby of Russell Springs, KY and Stanley(and Marilyn) Johnson of Columbia, KY; three sisters, Linda (and Steven) Newell  of Somerset, Karen Kay Newell of Somerset and Katherine Jones of Somerset; two brothers-in-law, Curtis (and Lisa) Greshaw of Somerset and Tim Lipscomb of Somerset; a sister-in-law, Sharlene Greshaw of Somerset;  and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Ray Lipscomb, whom she married on June 10, 1991 and who passed away on April 19, 2010.

Visitation for Mrs. Lipscomb will be Tuesday, January 10th at 7:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 11th at 1:30 pm at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Bourbon Road, Somerset. Pastor Seibert Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mrs. Lipscomb will be Brad Brown, Maurice Shelby, Donald Jones, Stanley Johnson, Michael Currens, Frank Newby Jr., and Michael Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Asmar Caesar and Solomon Currens.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund.
