Ruby
June Phelps, age 84 of the Barnesburg community, departed this
life on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at her residence.
She
was born on June 17, 1926 to the late John B. and Hepsa Elizabeth
Mayfield Barnes. Mrs. Phelps was a former greeter for
Wal-Mart and a member of First Baptist Church of Somerset. She had
a zest for life and enjoyed spending time with her family, parents
and especially her grandchildren.
Mrs.
Phelps is survived by her husband, Willard “Bill” Phelps, whom
she married on June 21, 1947 in Rossville, GA; two daughters, Mary
Lou (and Jim) Henderlight of Somerset and Billye June (and Jerry)
Combs of Corbin, KY; four grandchildren, Cassie Meredith (and
Ryan) Gentry, Johna Chesney Henderlight, Adam Glen Combs and
Samuel Phelps Combs; two sisters, Louise Combs and Betty Jean
Hargis, both of Somerset.
Along
with her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers,
Captain H. L. Barnes and Lieutenant Commander B. J. Barnes.
Visitation
for Mrs. Phelps will be Friday, May 6th at 1:30 at Lake
Cumberland Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 4:00
pm at the Barnesburg Cemetery. Chaplain Clarence Floyd will
officiate.
The
