Ruby Sewell October 9, 1945 - May 3, 2008
Mrs. Ruby Sewell, age 62, of Monrovia, IN, formerly of Somerset, departed this life on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at her residence in Indiana. She was
born on October 9, 1945 in Somerset, KY to Thelma Wells Watkins and the
late Rayford Speaks. Having
been a devoted member of the Gasburg Baptist Church in Mooresville, IN,
Ruby had a strong faith and love for the Lord. She enjoyed gardening,
crocheting, playing piano, and singing. In addition, she wrote poetry
and was proud to have had one of her poems published. It is fair to say
she was a selfless woman, always doing for others. Mrs.
Sewell is survived by her husband, James P. Sewell, whom she married on
October 21, 1961; her mother and stepfather, Thelma Wells (and
Edwin)Watkins of Somerset; two sons, James Leonard Sewell of
Martinsville, IN and Jeffery Paul (and Jennifer) Sewell of Indianapolis,
IN; a daughter, Tamera Kay Sewell of Bronston, KY; a brother, Cleo
Speaks of Somerset; three sisters, Faustine Whitaker of Somerset, Beulah
Turner of Somerset, and Lorraine Keith of Bronston, KY; and her
grandchildren, Casey James and Tara Ranee Sewell of Mooresville, IN,
Malea Christine Bay of Pheonix, AZ, and Sophie Bree Sewell of
Indianapolis, IN. Preceding
her in death were her father, Rayford Speaks and a brother, Fayne
Speaks. Funeral
services will be Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel of
the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Meece and Bro. Ulanda
Price officiating. Buriall will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation
for Mrs. Ruby Sewell will be Tuesday, May 6, 2008 after 6:00 p.m. at
Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Gasburg Baptist Church Building Fund, 900 Gasburg Road, Mooresville, IN 46158.
