Helen Elizabeth (Williams) Gibson, 86, Old Gibson Road passed away Thursday September 26, 2002 at her residence.

She was born June 20, 1916 in Science Hill, KY. a daughter of the late William Harrison Williams and Mary Eliza (Thomas) Williams. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Church of Christ.

She is survived by one son, Jerry (and Tina) Gibson, Eubank, KY.; four daughters, Betty Gibson and Wanda Jean (and Mike) Hess, both of Eubank, Ky., Peggy (and Charles) Ingram, Prattville, Ala. And Linda (and Delmer) Dalton, Lexington, Ky.; one sister, Zula Phelps, Somerset, KY.; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Gibson, Eubank, KY.; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Her husband, Amos Gibson whom she married one November 25, 1935 and who passed away March 1, 1972; one son Roger Gibson, who passed away August 21, 2002; one brother Lindsey Williams; two sisters, Pauline Godbey and Hazel Pike.

Vernon William Hooker, 85, Clifty Road passed away Saturday September 21, 2002 at his residence.

He was born November 11916 in London, KY. the son of the late Edward Hooker and Gertrude Hooker. He was a U S Army WWII Veteran, a member of the Civil Conservation Corps, VFW and the American Legion Post #38. He retired from 35 years at Dept. of Economics Security in Frankfort, KY. and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by one niece, Jeannie (and Wayne) Bennett, Somerset, KY.; two great nephews, Shane (and Beth) Perra Thompson, San Antonio. TX. and Sean Thompson, Eubank, KY.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marguerite Hooker and Emma Harkleroad.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A. M. Thursday September 26, 2002 at the memory Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Brother Shelby Reynolds officiating. Private burial will be at a later date at Mill Springs National Cemetery.

Wolford Louis (W.L.) Sanders, 91, Orchard Street passed away Thursday September 19, 2002 at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home.

He was born December 12, 1910 in Casey County, a son of the late John Fletcher Sanders and Florence (Cochran) Sanders. He was a Baptist Minister ordained in 1947 into the Southern Baptist Faith, a graduate of Clear Creek Baptist Seminary. He served as a minister for 9 churches; Oak Grave Baptist, Pulaski Baptist Camp Ground, First Baptist Church in Paxton, IL., Mt. Pleasant Baptist , Island Creek Baptist, Lothair Baptist in Perry County and Malvin Hill Baptist.

He is survived by three sons, Norbert (and Saundra) Sanders, Science Hill, KY., Fletcher (and Betty) Sanders, Paxton, IL. and Ted (and Sharon) Sanders, Science Hill, KY.; two daughters, Marcia Vaught Morrow, Eubank, KY. and Paula Bailey (and Paul) Vaught, Somerset, KY.; 23 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 60 years, Grace (Walters) Sanders, whom he married on January 18, 1931 in Casey County; one son, Delain Sanders; one sister, Hazel Creekmore; one brother, William Sanders; a daughter-in-law, Norma sanders; 2 sons-in-law, Paul Albert Vaught and Fred Morrow.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Sunday September 22, 2002 at the Chapel of Morris and Hislope Funeral Home with Brother Dave Evans officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. Saturday September 21, 2002 at the Chapel of Morris and Hislope Funeral Home.

In his later years, he was heard to express the scripture, “To be absent in the body, is to be Present with the Lord.” Today he is present with the Lord, whom he served for 79 years.

William Ray Haste 77, N. Pisgah Dr. West Chester Ohio formerly of the Ansel Community passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at Jewish Hospital Cincinnati Ohio.

He was born in the Ansel Community August 9, 1925 a don of  the late Ecton and Pollie Ann (New) Haste. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, worked at Marharfer Packing Co. and was a  member of Eagles Lodge of Muncie, IN.

He was survived by one son Ronnie Haste of Muncie, IN; three daughters Jeanette Cooper, Brenda Burton and Jennvee Smith all of Muncie, IN; two sisters Dorothy Sweet of Athens, Alabama and Christine Wesley of West Chester, Ohio; Several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his 1st wife, Nellie: his 2nd wife, Lorie Dick Haste; a son Danny Haste; four brothers Lee Otis Haste, Ralph Haste, Roy Haste and Dennis Haste; a sister Margaret Ann Waters.

Mr. Larry Cecil “Speedy” Casada 74, 1331 W. Boubon Road, passed away Wednesday September 18, 2002 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born March 28, 1928 in Kidder, Kentucky a son of the late Eli and Rutha Mary (Keith) Casada. He was a retired car saleman. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Zion Baptist Church Zion, Kentucky.

He is survived by his wife Mary Helen (Staley) Casada whom he married on October 10, 1964 in Livingston, Kentucky; two sons Larry and (Michelle) Casada of Monticello, Kentucky., Anthony Richard Casada of Somerset, Kentucky; one daughter Kimberly and (Randy) Dalton of Somerset, Kentucky; two brothers Ardell and (Pauline) Casada of Somerset, Kentucky., Farris and (Virginia) Casada of Monticello, Kentucky; one sister Myrtle Jones of Amherst, Ohio; three grandchildren Tela Casada, Paige Casada and Adam Dalton.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Eugene Meece 76, of 106 Grand Circle, Somerset passed away Tuesday Septembe17, 2002 at his residence.

 He was born May 21, 1926 in the Bent community a son of the late William Andrew and Louvena (Stogsdill) Meece. He was a machine operator for General Electric. He served in the US Army during WWII and was a member of Denham Street Baptist Church. He loved fishing, hunting and church..

He is survived by four brothers Norman Meece, William Meece Jr., and Ralph Meece all of Cincinnati, Ohio. and Harold Meece of Akron, Ohio; one sister Margaret Lou Love of Cincinnati, Ohio; four half brothers Benny T. Meece of Virginia, Donny Meece, Jeff Meece and Danny Meece all of Lebanon, Ohio; one half sister Theresa Bolsner of Lebanon, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary Katherine (Lewis) Meece whom he married on July 3, 1948 in Norwood, Ohio; a sister Ruth Ellen Meece and a half sister Andrea Bolsner.

He was a Vietnam War Veteran, a 1968 graduate of Somerset High School, an Eagle Scout of Troop #39, had associate degree in business, and was a member of Rock Lick Baptist Church being baptized and joining at the age of 13. He attended Clay Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Connie (Perdue) Simpson, whom he married on April 9, 1971 in Somerset, KY.; three sons, Jarrod Wayne Simpson and Matthew Patrick Simpson, both of Lexington, KY. and John Nicholas Simpson, Somerset, KY.; two uncles, Raymond Simpson, Somerset, KY. and Bud Dick, Covington, KY.; one aunt Zonia Bryant, Covington, KY.

He was born September 9, 1928, in del Notre, Colorado the son of Jose G. Herrera and Virginia Sisneros Herrera. He was a truck driver; his hobbies included fishing and especially spending time with his family.

He is survived by three daughter, Verlinda Herrera and Dave O’Neill; Lisa Horner and Valerie Herrera all of Somerset, KY.; three sisters, Betty Cardenas of Del Norte, CO.; Oralia Pena, Del Norte, CO and Ruth Garcia of Monte Vista, CO.; one brother, Gilberto (Mary) Herrera of Colorado Springs, Co. as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was born November 19, 1914 in Rockholds, Ky. a son of the late Charlie Yeary and Tina (Floyd) Yeary. He was a construction carpenter, a member of the International Upholstery Craftsmen, United Mine Workers, AFL CIO and at the Estesburg Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband, Francis H. (Al) Allen whom she married on February 3, 1940 in Auburn, IN.; two sons, James Allen, Roseville, MI. and Laurence (and Ruth) Allen Rochester Hills, MI.; two daughters, Catherine C. Allen and Dr. Rosemary Allen Coke, both of Georgetown, KY.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian “Dutch” (Morelock) Burdine whom he married on May 1, 1936; two daughters, Thelma (and D.S.) Mayfield and Geraldean Burdine both of Somerset, KY.; 6 grandchildren Jacqueline Arehart, Margaret Kiphan, Russell Mayfield, Don Mayfield, Greg Burdine and Jennifer Ridner and 13 great grandchildren.

Mildred Evelyn Alexander, 91, Ruth Community passed away Wednesday September 11, 2002 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born May 19, 1911 in the Ruth Community, a daughter of the late George R. Allen and Pearl (Keeney) Allen. She was a homemaker and a member of Clay Hill Baptist Church, where she was a former Junior Class Sunday School Teacher.

She is survived by two sons, Lyman (and Betty) Alexander, Ruth Community and Jimmy (And Elmeta) Alexander, Somerset, KY.; two daughters, Lula Pearl Hines, Indianapolis, IN. and Evelyn (and Scott) Corder, Monticello, KY.; one sister, Korah Cowan Burdine, Somerset, KY.; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arlie Alexander whom she married on May 27, 1928 in Tennessee; one daughter, Joan Turpin; one son, Gene R. Alexander; one brother, Eugene Allen and one son-in-law, Ray Hines.

Coy E. Dick, 80, Puncheon Spur Road passed away Tuesday September 10, 2002 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born October 30, 1921 in Eubank, KY. a son of the late James Monroe Dick and Arlie Mae (Parks) Dick. He was a WWII US Army Veteran, a machine tool inspector and was of the Church of God Faith.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Mercer) Dick whom he married on July 6, 2002; four daughters, Marilyn (and Donald) Matthews, Amelia, OH., Bertha (and Joseph) Matthews, Cincinnati, OH., Denise Louis, Mason, OH. and Thelma Mercer Black, Eubank, KY.; one sister, Emma Mae Padgett McGuffey, Stanford, KY.; two brothers, Donald Boone Dick. Lebanon, KY. and James Mark Dick, Somerset, KY.; six grandchildren, Time Kersey, Joe Matthews, Jr., Coy Matthews, Sally Anne Louis, Marsha Matthews Barnes & Demetria Matthews and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Elorise Coker Dick who passed was August 16, 2001.; four brothers, Bill Dick, Earl “Jack” Dick, James and Curtis Dick; four sisters, Dorothy Releford, Cloda Reed, Ruby Murphy and Helen Wall.

She was born December 31, 1934, a daughter of the late Harvey Carrender and Rosie (Turner) Owens. She was a homemaker, a loving mother and attended Buena Vista Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Paul Edward (and Marie) Keeney, Nicholasville, KY., James Jeffery (and Melissa) Keeney, Bronston, KY. and Eugene Curtis (and Barbie) Keeney, Somerset, KY.; three daughters, Carolyn Lavoan  Adkins, Somerset, KY., Charlotte (and Curtis) Carrender, Science Hill, KY. and Christian (and Allen) Boyer, Somerset, KY.; one sister, Gladys Shadoan, Erlanger, KY.; two step sons, Don (and Patsy) Keeney, Bronston, KY. and Charles (and Georgia Faye) Keeney, Nancy, KY.; one step daughter, Barbara (and Raymond) Miller, Bronston, KY.; 12 grandchildren, Summer and Christi Dalton, Craig, Chad, Ciarra, Sasha, Holly and Brittany Keeney, James Edward Price, Ashley Adkins, Teresa Daulton and Charles Carrender; one great grandchild, Autumn Reshay Latham; 10 step grandchildren and 21 step great grandchildren.

Jeff Muse, 33, Beauchamp Blvd. Passed away September 5, 2002 at his residence.

He was born April 14, 1969 in Indianapolis, IN. the son of Michael Muse and Glenda Muse. He was a 1987 graduate of Pulaski County High School, an avid softball player and a member of Ferguson Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Joan (Mounce) Muse, whom he married on October 19, 1991 in Gatlinburg, TN.; his parents; his Father and mother-in-law; one sisters, Teresa (and Bret) Brummett, Somerset, KY.; one niece, Karcyn Brummett, Somerset, KY.; one nephew, Tyler Brummett, Somerset, Ky.; his maternal grandmother, Elsie Wilson, Somerset, KY.; two special cousins, Jonna Stayton and Jamie Hannah; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Delno Wilson; Paternal grandparents, Terrell and Grace Muse.

Vida Ella Owen, 95, Owenton Manor Owenton, KY., formerly of the Burnetta Community, passed away Wednesday September 4, 2002 at Owenton Manor.

She was born September 11, 1906 in Burnetta, KY. a daughter of the late V. L. Burton and Margaret (Parton) Burton. She was a homemaker and a member of Lakeside Baptist Church in Nancy, KY.

Vida is survived by one son, Wendell (and Regena) Owen, Florence, KY.; one sister, Beatrice Anderson, Burnetta Community; five grandchildren, Staci Owen, Stephanie Rose, Steven Owen, Shellie Light and Missi Woolridge and  12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Owen whom she married in 1935 in Burnetta Community and who passed away in 1976; one son, Morris Owen; 2 brothers, George and James Burton; 2 sisters, Pearlie Burton and Sidney Dick.

Raymond Cash, 69, Racetrack Road passed away September 2, 2002 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born March 1, 1933 in Pulaski County a son of the late Jack and Winnie (Jones) Cash. He was a Caster at Crane Company.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth (Black) Cash whom he married on June 27, 1953.; two daughters, Brenda Sue Phillips, Seymour, TN. and Sherry Lynn Little, Somerset, KY.; two brothers, Joe Cash, Somerset, KY. and Louie Cash, Cincinnati, OH.; three sisters, Edna Blevins, Eubank, KY., Marie Dick, Acton, IN. and Alberta Lowe, Columbia Ky.; four grandchildren Jennifer Phillips, Tiffany Phillips, Brandi Meece and Tyler Meece.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Judy Ann Cash and one brother Ernest Cash.

Ella B. (Hughes) Keith, 72, Ellison-Pulaski Road passed away Saturday August 31, 2002 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born February 27, 1930 in Hazard, KY. a daughter of the late James Everett Hughes and Louise (Pennington) Hughes. She was a retired School Bus Driver for Logan County School System and a Member of Bogletown Pentecostal Church of God.

Ella is survived by her husband of 55 years, Noel Keith; three sons, James (and Cheryl) Keith, Eubank, KY., Charles (and Connie) Keith, Switzer, WV. and Michael (and Rose) Keith, Eubank, KY.; three daughters, Charlene (and Bill) Creakman, Crooked Creek, WV., Carmel (and Johnny) Johnson, Omar, WV. and Brenda (and James) Dennison, Sutton, WV.; three brothers, Kenneth (and Juanita) Hughes, New Port, MI., Mitchell (and Peggy) Hughes, Nancy. KY. and Dallas (and Gail) Hughes, Nancy. Larry Glenn Phelps, 35, White Oak Circle passed away Wednesday August 28, 2002 as the result of an accident.

He was born, May 18, 1967 in Somerset, KY. a son of the late Cyrus Phelps and Alta (Haste) Phelps. He was a car detailer at Tri-City Motors and a member of Bethelridge United Methodist Church.

Larry is survived by his wife, Mindy R. (Daulton) Phelps whom he married on May 21, 1990 in Casey County, KY.; his mother, Alta Phelps; four sons, Darrell David Glenn Phelps, Larry Edward Michael Phelps, Joshua Daniel Ryan Phelps and Jacob Matthew Scott Phelps, all of Somerset, KY.; one brother, Gary Lee Phelps, Arlington, VA.; three sisters, Karen Frances Luttrell, Liberty, KY., Sherry Lynn Cox, Liberty, KY. and  Amelia Gay Vaught, Bethelridge, KY; several aunts , uncles nieces and nephews.

His father and one son, Justin Cole, preceded him in death.

She was born November 1, 1919 in Naomi, KY. a daughter of the late James Edward Daws and Versie (Burton) Daws. She was a homemaker, a loving mother and grandmother and a member of Naomi Church of the Nazarene Nancy, KY.

Rose is survived by two sons, Winford B. (And Alene) Daulton, Fairmount, In. and Roy Lee Daulton, Nancy, KY.; seven daughters, Rose V. Malone Ypsilanti, Mi., Lois J. (and Wendell) Baize, Crown Point, IN., Clarence A. Tarter, Nancy, Ky., Betty L. (and Robert) Armstrong, Science Hill, KY., Dean (and Kennith) Henderson, Science Hill, KY., Diann (and James) C.
