Sheila Mae Griffis, age 57 of Somerset departed this life and entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born on October 4, 1954 in Elyria, OH to the late Billy E. and Lula Mae Burge.  Sheila was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and daughter-in-law. She was a dedicated Christian and a member of the Bible Baptist Fellowship in West Virginia.

Sheila is survived by her husband, Bro. George Griffis, whom she married on July 2, 1972 in Wileyville, WV; David Michael Griffis (and wife, Dana) of Franklin, KY and Jonathan Isaiah Griffis of Somerset; two grandsons, Isaiah Joel Griffis and Jonas Nathaniel Griffis; her aunt, Shirley Dodd; uncle, Arthur “Bud” Bartlett, and second cousin, Ray Burge. She is also survived by a host of other family and friends who dearly loved her.

Visitation for Mrs. Griffis will be Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 5:00 pm at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Randy C. Wiles officiating. Burial will be in the Science Hill Cemetery in Science Hill, KY. Pallbearers for Mrs. Griffis will be her sons and nephews.
