Shirley M. Hawk, age 69 of
Somerset, departed this life on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the
Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
She was born on December 7,
1942 in the Squib community of Pulaski County to the late Berchel
and Dora (Whitaker) Price. Her adopted parents were Lloyd and
Sylvia (Whitaker) Price. Mrs. Hawk was a Shopville High School
graduate, retired cashier for Food Fair, and a member of the
Chimney Rock Baptist Church. She loved her family and loved to
garden.
Mrs. Hawk married Carlos
Hawk on July 17, 1961 in Gate City, VA and he precedes her in
death.
She is survived by two
children, Jeff (and Bobbie) Hawk of Somerset and Greta (and
Robert) Venoy of Somerset; seven grandchildren, Joshua Hawk, Jared
Hawk, Heather (and Shannon) Bullock, Matthew Collingsworth, Robin
Burnett, Daniel Venoy, and Heather (and Ray) Hicks; and six great
grandchildren, Cailyn Hawk, Braden Burnett, Zachary Burnett, Logan
Bullock, Hailey Taylor, and Chloe Hicks.
Along with her parents and
husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, George Tom Price.
Visitation for Mrs. Hawk
will be Monday, January 23rd at 5:00 pm at Lake
Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway80, Somerset.
Funeral service will be
held on Tuesday, January 24th at 1:00 pm at Chapel of
Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Bradley Goforth and Bro.
David Hawk officiating. Interment will be at Lakeside Memorial
Gardens. Pallbearers for Mrs. Hawk will be Matthew Collingsworth,
Daniel Venoy, Jared Hawk, Josh Hawk, David Scaggs, and Shannon
Hawk.
The family requests
