Verna Mae "Shorty" West, 52, of Science Hill , Kentucky , passed away Monday, April 11, 2011 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital .

She was born in Somerset , Kentucky on March 14, 1959, daughter of Janet Wesley Anderson and the late Dewey Anderson.  She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her husband, Howard L. West Jr. of Science Hill, one son, Adam & (Korey) West of Somerset, two daughters, Jerri & (Jason) Jasper of Somerset and Danielle West of Science Hill, mother, Janet Wesley Anderson of Somerset, two brothers, Ritchie & (Beverly) Anderson of Science Hill and Rick Anderson of Somerset, one sister, Valerie & (Nathan) Boyd of Science Hill and three grandchildren, Hannah, Leanna and Caleb Jasper.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Lester Randolph and Bro. Jason Jasper officiating.

Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery .

Visitation will be after 6 PM Wednesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
